Ultrabright Bi-polar LED'sI'm still searching for the perfect LED, and I need it to satisfy the following: * Must be 5mm package * Must be dual colour * Must have only two leads (therefore the LED's must face in different directions internally) * The forward voltage must be less than 3 V * I should get decent brightness out of 20 mA The closes I've gotten so far is the following: http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/90506.pdf Now the only little nagging problem about this LED is that it's Red and Green, and so about 1 in 15 people in the world will have difficulty distinguishing the two colours. This isn't a major major major problem, but if possible I'd like to find different colours. At the moment I'm going to settle with this particular LED. If anyone knows of a similar LED but with different colours, I'd appreciate it. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |

Re: Ultrabright Bi-polar LED'sHave you checked out the LED manufacturers?
One I use is Kingbright: http://www.kingbrightusa.com/product.asp?catalog_name=LED&category_name=5mm%20Bi-color&product_id=WP57EYW There's a 2 lead red yellow LED which should be reasonably distinct. It will require a lot more work for you to find find exactly what you need, so you should make friends with a few local distributers and have them make suggestions for you. You'll still need to do a lot of legwork, but I'm sure you can find other parts that are suitable. -Adam On 7/10/08, Tomás Ó hÉilidhe <toe@...> wrote: > > I'm still searching for the perfect LED, and I need it to satisfy the > following: > > * Must be 5mm package > * Must be dual colour > * Must have only two leads (therefore the LED's must face in different > directions internally) > * The forward voltage must be less than 3 V > * I should get decent brightness out of 20 mA > > The closes I've gotten so far is the following: > > http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/90506.pdf > > Now the only little nagging problem about this LED is that it's Red and > Green, and so about 1 in 15 people in the world will have difficulty > distinguishing the two colours.
