USB Webcam and Image Analysis

Hey everyone, I'm just getting started with Gumstix and have a few questions to confirm an idea/build plan I have.

I'm working as a graduate student and will be designing a system that will take near infrared images of a known LED pattern using a USB webcam. After each picture, I will need to do some image processing to analyze the pattern to determine the distance and orientation to the LEDs.

My current plan is to use the 600 MHz verdex motherboard with the netCF, for data storage, and console-vx, for USB interface, expansion boards. Are there any limitations to any of the boards I need to know about? Or will my current configuration work? (As long as I use everything correctly that is)
