Hello there,
First of all, welcome aboard! Now that you downloaded the po files, you
should download and install Poedit, it will open and edit po files.
First time you open the program, it will ask for your personal data, as
name, email, etc. Just fill in the spaces, and you will see a list of
'strings', messages in english that need to be translated. As you
translate one by one, their color will change, giving you a visual clue
of your progress.
Start translating the menu options, like File, Edit, and so on. When
you save the po, you'll see a file with the same name as the po, but
with a .mo ending. Rename it 'audacity.mo'.
Open Audacity folder, locate Languages folder and then the two-letter
name for your language, then replace audacity.mo with the one you just
saved. Open Audac and it should show your translated strings. (If there
are no folder for your translation yet in Languages folder; select any
one, as 'de' for example, replace the audacity.mo file there and select
Deutsch as the interface language in Audacity. It won't affect your
translation, it's just a workaround to make Auda use your freshly made
po/mo files)
Any questions, please ask, we are here to help :)
