TikiWiki as CRMHi all,
An important feature missing in TikiWiki, is a CRM (Community Relation Manager). At the moment, we have a basic contact manager, but it is too basic to function as a CRM. Some things I miss are the possibility to group people, link them to an organisation, ...
To get the CRM-feature into TikiWiki, I see two possible ways:
I'd like to hear your opinions on this, but before that, I have some pro's and con's listed here:
Rewrite
Pro
Contra
3rd Party CRM
I assume we only look at open source PHP/MySQL CRM's.
Pro
Contra
Imho, we should use a good 3rd party CRM. Since a while, I use CiviCRM and I like it very much!
I hope I get many replies, so the opinion of the list (part of the community) will be known. I'll post this also on the forum.

Re: TikiWiki as CRMhi,
i'm not sure what is better but i vote for rewrite (developing own) than relying on 3rd party (which would be hard to maintain compatibility with) we could only make an interaction api with 3rd party software because i guess it would be hard to find nice CRM which could be integrated and distributed in TikiWiki with compatible license to LGPL (imho CiviCRM is not LGPL compatible, see: http://civicrm.org/licensing) luci On 18/07/08 11:56, koen huybrechts wrote: > Hi all, > > An important feature missing in TikiWiki, is a CRM (Community Relation > Manager). Re: TikiWiki as CRMI did not change my mind :-)
Use trackers Surely some tracker configuration / profile to add to have a one click installation But trackers are very powerful Sylvie On Fri, 2008-07-18 at 11:56 +0200, koen huybrechts wrote: > Hi all, > > An important feature missing in TikiWiki, is a CRM (Community Relation > Manager). Re: TikiWiki as CRMHi,
I also prefer to have our own code instead of integrating another software. This is mainly because I prefer less functionnalities that are more integrated with Tiki (with perms, categories, tags, look, and so on...). Deep integration with another software and its evolutions is really a pain to maintain... So, improving or rewriting contacts is the way I would have choosed. Re: TikiWiki as CRMkoen,
i've looked at civicrm too and it has a lot of nice functionality. I agree with Sylvie that trackers can do much of the "information management" that is involved with CRM, and other features like newsletters, internal tasks and messaging exist, but better integration would be nice can you explain a little the featureset you would want from the CRM? Re: TikiWiki as CRM2008/7/18, Michael Pilling <mlpilling@...>:
koen, Hi,
The features I think are very usefull for us, and therefor I wish to implement are:
These things are, needed to get people to choose TikiWiki for CRM.
Deep integration with another software and its evolutions is CiviCRM is very good at integration, they support Drupal and Joomla integration. Off course, TW isn't Drupal of Joomla, but it gives an idea. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Tikiwiki-devel mailing list Tikiwiki-devel@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/tikiwiki-devel |

Re: TikiWiki as CRMIf there is a real project needing CRM, I will most likely build some
CRM inside TIki, rather than integrate with CiviCRM, unless the project customer wants CiviCRM by itself anyway, or already has CiviCRM. The problem with the CiviCRM integration approach is it results in a lot of duplicate functionality (which exist in both Tiki and CiviCRM). Having said this, I note that CiviCRM has a rather comprehensive integration API, which if you only use that for integration, you should't have licensing issues as the packages remain separate (I am not a lawyer disclaimer applies here). nkoth On Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 8:47 AM, koen huybrechts <huybkoen@...> wrote: > > 2008/7/18, Michael Pilling <mlpilling@...>: >> >> koen, >> >> >> i've looked at civicrm too and it has a lot of nice functionality.
