Hello to everyone...

Recently purchased Logitech V10 Portable Notebook Speakers for my new T61, but when plugged in, the speaker volume control work in sync with the laptops, but still no sound. I went thru the complete Help check-list, but still no avail. Also, when plugged into any of the USB ports, deletes the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon from the desktray, and it also knocks out the DVD bay. After unplugging and re-booting, all is normal again.

Can anyone tell me the correct driver for the USB audio device so I can reinstall it, or, anything else? Thank you very much in advance.

I just ordered a T60 from Lenovo this afternoon and I opted not to spend the $250+ on the IPS screen, but now I'm being told the "standard" 15" screen it comes with is limited to an XGA resolution of 1024x768. Can somebody confirm this for me? If so I will be cancelling my order, I've already pushed my $1500 budget on this computer by bringing its final pre-tax cost up to $1624, I'm not spending another $250 to have a normal modern resolution, I think it is quite unacceptable to have such a computer with such a low resolution and I'm fairly floored that Lenovo's site didn't mention the resolutions when I was selecting the screen.

However, the built-in IBM High-rate Wire-less LAN PCI card is not seen by Vista. I have done firm-wire up-date, and other drivers that I were able to down-load from the IBM's support site. But, I am still in the woods here not being to cut the wire, yet. I am able to connect to the wire-less router via the cross-over LAN cable. I am fine there. But, the wire-less LAN PCI card is not responding. Now, would anyone out there help me, pppuuullleeezzz? I thank you in advance. I shall await for all the good news. Cheers...

It is possible that this is a problem with an Adobe photo program. If you use Adobe Album or Photohouse, here's what a little research and trial-and-error has come with.

Adobe's various photo programs all include an organizing subprogram that creates photo albums. It seems that Adobe transfers photos into its organizing program from various storage devices (camera disks, memory sticks, etc) using a subprogram that remains resident: apdproxy.exe.

It also seems that apdproxy.exe treats all sources of photo images as though they were USB drives (and perhaps flashdrives), even if the source is the photoshop program itself. (To see this, open your photoshop program, select preferences, then organizer, then card reader -- you will see that one of the "disk" options is the photoshop program itself.)

Whatever Adobe's intent, Windows seems to "think" of apdproxy.exe as though it was an open device; it won't shut off of its own accord, so you get the message at shutdown.

Here are your various choices:
1. Open your Adobe photo program (mine is Elements 4.0), go to edit preferences, work your way to the preferences for the organizer or photo album and get to something like "Camera or Card reader".
In this screen I have the option of using or not using Adobe Photo Downloader (apdproxy.exe, in other words). Uncheck the option and everything will now work fine.
2. If you want Adobe Photo Downloader to be resident for the times you plug in your camera or any other USB memory device, then ignore 1 above. You have the following sub-options.
a. The simplest is just live with it. When you get the CardReaderLookupWindow message, just elect to close it -- no damage will happen (uh, make sure your camera or memory stick aren't still connected, though).
b. You can hunt in the display area in the lower left for the icon for Adobe Photo Downloader before shutting down, click on it and select "exit". (This would have been the simplest choice, but as many of you already know, the display area in Windows XP frequently "forgets" to show various icons for active programs. In that case, move to step c.)
c. Open the Task Manager>Processes, find and close apdproxy.exe.

BTW: I have noticed that Photoshop Elements can really slow down the fastest of systems. I haven't tested this assumption yet, but it does seem that disabling the CardReader in Adobe preferences speeds up the program.

Good luck

P.S. Now if someone would find a workaround for the conflict between Internet Explorer 7 Beta and Adobe Updater (in Photo Elements), I would sure be pleased.

How to get Alienware laptop for 10£

The Alienware Sentia is a fantastic laptop, worth over £2000, with A Pentium 4 processor, very impressive RAM and hard drive space and brilliant sound and graphics, amongst many other top of the range aspects of its performance, design and practicality.

You can get one of these for free! Do not worry about paying me a thing, I include all of the instructions below and can assure you that this is genuine and legitimate

1) Click on this: http://alienwaregiveaway.co.uk/index.php?referral=49869

2) Sign up for an account with Alienware. This is completely free and very simple.

3) Complete an offer - now this does cost a little bit of money but it really isn't much at all, (£10 or a little more, depending on which offer,) and you can make it back anyway. It is also the only thing that you will have to spend money on.

4) Refer 25 other people. The easiest way to do this is to advertise the information, as I did on ebay. You could even sell the information, which would help you make back the £10.

Once you have done this, you will receive a laptop within 3 weeks. My friend, who referred me, has just received hers. She also advertised on ebay and made £100 out of referring people!

If you don’t believe its work see this film and read an article:

I have forgotten my password for the IBM Client Security Software on my T43 (266875U), therefore I cannot update the CSS software. Is there any way to erase the information stored on the security chip or reset the password? I have contacted IBM via web and also local IBM service, but thus far got no solution from them.
Local IBM guys do not know how to deal with it, so even if I cannot reset the password myself it would help a lot if someone can provide an aswer I can forward to the local IBM.
Since security chip is not part of the OS I presume that reinstalling the system using Recovery would not do the job.

I have the newest BIOS and other updates but CSS v. 5.43.173.0 which I cannot update due to the above reason.

Thank you in advance for all the help!
would cut out the fees for me, but I'd understand if you were happier
with ebay as a buyer. Do email me if you have any questions.

Thanks.
