Ich muss sagen, Ciaaaalis ist wirklich nochmals viel besser als Viiiaaaagra. Es ist alles viel natürlicher als mit Viiiaaaagra. Aufgrund der langen Wirkungszeit von 24 Stunden kann man sich richtig Zeit lassen und mehrer Runden einlegen.

Think Edit modifications - contact form and XHTML Valid

Hi Think Edit users!

Philippe has asked for me to send the mailing list some of my work on
Think Edit. As the title suggests this is for a contact form and to make
your links valid XHTML - meaning hopefully you can run your site through
the W3c validator and get a nice logo to place on your site and perhaps
make you look a bit pro ;-)

Firstly the contact form... Attached is a zip file with the page
template,config and plugin folders. It works via the simple Form2Mail
script written by George A. & Calin S. from Web4Future.com and has been
modified by myself with some extra protection and streamlining - firstly
a 4 digit security number must be entered and then the script checks for
any empty fields from the form. This is simple and I have found over the
years these minor changed to be very effective in protecting your inbox.

When an email is sent the user is forwarded instantly back to the same
contact page template using a node ID. I use the standard 'refresh'
variable (it saves editing thinkedit.init) set to '2' and this tells the
contact form to display a thankyou message instead. If you use the cache
a link can clear it allowing a user to resend an email. This is perhaps
a little bit clunky - it certainly works, but i'm sure it can be done
more neatly.

Lastly, to make your links valid XHTML open the file 'url.class' and on
line 345 change the '&' symbol to the character code '&' so the line
reads: "$url .='&';". This file is also included in the zip.

This is all just playing and i'm sure some of my techniques are a little
slap-dash, but my all means use the code as you wish and I hope it helps.

Maybe another time I can show gallery pages with a lightbox
(http://www.forum-design.co.uk/thinkedit/index.php?node_id=2). This
script is still work in progress and only requires the user to select
the folder containing the images using a modified file browser. The
script then creates a directory called 'thumbs' and generates them to a
specified size. I wish to polish this up before distributing any work,
so you may hear from me again! Other work includes using more AJAX in
the structure editor while also making everything XHTML valid which may
be of use to some...and a shop system using a Paypal shopping cart. It
works using individual product pages and section pages...give me time =)

where your_gallery_type is the name of your gallery content type
and your_photo_type is the name of your photo type

Work in progress : content type editor

I'm currently working on a content type editor for Thinkedit. With it,
you'll be able to define new content types easily, and manage existing
ones. This will allow us to explain a bit more what Thinkedit is about
: change resistance (what happens when a client asks for a new content
type on his website, the day before official launch :-)

Security vulnerability fixed in SVN

Hello,

An anonymous person (called "r0ut3r") sent me a patch to fix a
security vulnerability. I'd like to thank him for sending me a private
email before releasing the advisory.

Explanation of the problem :

If you have "register_globals" ON (it is an unsafe way of running PHP,
see http://php.net/register_globals ), a remote attacker could write a
script that allows him to include a remote file.

This problem has been found in render.php (inside /design/)

This problem has been fixed 20 minutes after I have been aware of the
problem. It is available in SVN, and a new version will be released
later today on Thinkedit.org.

I plan to do a complete security audit of Thinkedit for the 2.0 release.

If anyone wants more information about this kind of problem, let me know.

Well, I completely understand Edouard. This CMS really has to stay what other CMS are not: SIMPLE.

But at the same time, it has to be very HI-FI, and has to do all the things other CMS do... That is the challenge...

I think that a public doc for thinkedit would be necessary.

We'll have to see what works best with "lamba" end users. Some more testing is definitely needed. Your suggestions are of course welcome ! I think your proposal might be harder to use for inexperienced users. If time allows, we could implement more than one system for tree management. But currently, I'd prefer to stabilize things a bit more. First on my todo list is to finish clipboard management. And then marketing : I'd like to make 2.0 more public. Any help welcome !

(ps : je pense que je vais ajouter une mailing list en français. ceux qui comprennent les 2 langues pourront toujours s'abonner aux deux)

I HAVE A DREAM (of menu)

I like to have only ONE level at a time, like the previous version of thinkedit. But it is also usefull to jump in other level quickly.
So I HAVE A DREAM of a menu whitch combine both of them.
I have made a sketch to explain me:

1— There is the horizontal navigation of the previous version
2— a contextual menu (right click) over each NODE PARENT with there node_id.
3— In addition you can have n/ nodes individuals (preferences options).
4— a search box where you can type a name or a node_id

You can jump very quickly to any parent node AND/OR you can just follow the simple breadcrumb navigation.

Just an idea…

J'ai résolu temporairement la question en créant un lien en dur dans

Je pense que c'est le javascript qui ouvre la fenêtre d'écriture du nom de

la condition de désactiver Tinymce), et la création de page fonctionne (il

si vous mettez à jour votre version, vous verrez qu'il y a maintenant de "vrais" liens sur les flèches pour ouvrir / fermer un node et pour l'éditer.

Avec la dernière version c'est presque OK, on peut enregistrer mais à
condition également de désactiver l'éditeur Tinymce et de stopper le
chargement des derniers javascript dans le débogguer car il y a d'autres
bugs…

C'est extrêmement bizare, ici ça fonctionne à tous les coups. Comment faites-vous pour désactiver tinymce ?

J'en profite pour dire que j'ai rajouté deux liens très "ergonomiques":
1- ALLER Pour éditer le contenu depuis la page du site
un lien supplémentaire dans la toolbar "/edit/edit.php?node_id=' .
$node->getId();"
DONE dans lib/thinkedit/template.lib.php
Donc on peut soit ajouter une page soit modifier directement la page en
cours.

2- RETOUR un lien "voir la page" + refresh=1 dans le template d'édition de
page:
Un lien direct vers la page plus un refresh
href="'.ROOT_URL.'/index.php?node_id='.$url->get('node_id') .'&refresh=1"
DONE dans edit/header.template.php
Ce qui fait qu'on rafraichi la page d'une même opération tout en retournant
dans la partie publique. J'aime le "front éditing".

On en parlait justement avec Pierre hier.
Je proposerais d'avoir :
- un bouton "modifier" et un bouton "structure" dans la toolbar quand on est en train de regarder une page. Le bouton modifier mène directement à l'écran d'édition
- un bouton "Enregistrer et prévisualiser" dans le edit, qui sauve et prévisualise

Vous pouvez toujours joindre vos modifs (dans un fichier .zip par exemple) parfois on peut les intégrer directement.

(in my opinion il y a quelque chose que j'aime dans la première version sans
tree, beaucoup plus SIMPLE, beaucoup plus originale, plus moderne, plus
rapide, plus ergonomique, plus tout…) Mais je vais y réfléchir parce que là
je pressens qu'il ya un truc sympa à trouver.

Là, c'est clair qu'il y a plusieurs façon de représenter l'arbre. On pourrait éventuellement proposer les 2 solutions.

Il existe encore d'autres façon de représenter un arbre. Par exemple ceci : http://www.gnustep.it/enrico/gworkspace/viewer.html

Sur mac, on peut choisir la façon de représenter le système de fichiers.

A creuser, toutes les idées sont les bienvenues !

PS.Je dois tout de même un peu me présenter: je ne suis pas du tout
programmeur, développeur, etc., je suis artiste peintre et je bricole juste
un peu. Mais je peux rendre quelques services pour tester, et pour jouer le
rôle de l'utilisateur lambda.
Je garde les deux install de ThinkEdit séparées pour tester des modifs mais
je reste sur la version stable que je trouve globalement plus minimaliste et
plus agréable sur certains points. De toute façon je vais continuer
d'explorer cette petite merveille.

C'est vraiment sympa d'avoir des personnes qui n'ont pas "le nez dedans" qui donnent leur avis. C'est souvent très intéressant ! (d'ailleurs personne dans l'équipe n'est informaticien de formation ;-) )

Avec la dernière version c'est presque OK, on peut enregistrer mais à condition également de désactiver l'éditeur Tinymce et de stopper le chargement des derniers javascript dans le débogguer car il y a d'autres bugs…

J'en profite pour dire que j'ai rajouté deux liens très "ergonomiques":
1- ALLER Pour éditer le contenu depuis la page du site
un lien supplémentaire dans la toolbar "/edit/edit.php?node_id=' . $node->getId();"
DONE dans lib/thinkedit/template.lib.php
Donc on peut soit ajouter une page soit modifier directement la page en cours.

2- RETOUR un lien "voir la page" + refresh=1 dans le template d'édition de page:
Un lien direct vers la page plus un refresh href="'.ROOT_URL.'/index.php?node_id='.$url->get('node_id') .'&refresh=1"
DONE dans edit/header.template.php
Ce qui fait qu'on rafraichi la page d'une même opération tout en retournant dans la partie publique. J'aime le "front éditing".

liés au code javascript utilisé. Pour l'instant, nous ne testons que sur
firefox pour la partie admin, avec le but de supporter les autres browser
par après. La dernière version utilise moins de javascript et utilise une
librairie très très efficace pour les petits effets (menu) et pour l'ajax
qui sera ajouté progressivement (jquery.com).

(in my opinion il y a quelque chose que j'aime dans la première version sans tree, beaucoup plus SIMPLE, beaucoup plus originale, plus moderne, plus rapide, plus ergonomique, plus tout…) Mais je vais y réfléchir parce que là je pressens qu'il ya un truc sympa à trouver.

PS.Je dois tout de même un peu me présenter: je ne suis pas du tout programmeur, développeur, etc., je suis artiste peintre et je bricole juste un peu. Mais je peux rendre quelques services pour tester, et pour jouer le rôle de l'utilisateur lambda.
Je garde les deux install de ThinkEdit séparées pour tester des modifs mais je reste sur la version stable que je trouve globalement plus minimaliste et plus agréable sur certains points. De toute façon je vais continuer d'explorer cette petite merveille.

J'ai fait une installation en local (MAC OSX) et une installation de test sur free.fr qui fonctionne.

C'est chouette de savoir que ça fonctionne sur free. Ont-ils des restrictions particulières habituellement (style safemode php)? Nous avons essayé de rendre l'outil le plus indépendant possible point de vue hébergement (il marche même sur IIS windows :-) )

Je voudrais signaler quelques problèmes que je rencontre:

Avec Firefox, Impossible d'enregistrer le contenu (bien que un message "Informations" avertisse que "l'élément à bien été enregistré", rien ne s'inscrit dans la base), par contre les pages sont bien crées dans la structure.
Avec Safari, Impossible de créer des pages dans la structure, mais par contre on peut modifier le contenu.

Humhum, voilà qui est très curieux. Le premier problème, c'est que la version pour le moment disponible en téléchargement n'est pas la plus récente, mais en même temps, la version de développement n'est pas tout à fait assez stable pour la diffuser pour l'instant. Tout cela ne résout pas votre problème... Si vous en avez la possibilité vous pouvez tester la dernière version qui se trouve sur berlios sur un serveur SVN. SVN est un outil de gestion des versions. Toutes les infos pour télécharger la dernière version (en même temps que nous l'écrivons) sont disponibles ici : http://developer.berlios.de/svn/?group_id=5192 . Sur mac, vous pouvez utiliser smartsvn http://www.smartsvn.com/smartsvn/download.jsp . Si cela vous semble trop compliqué, je peux vous envoyer une archive de la dernière version.

Pourriez-vous également me préciser quelle version de firefox et de safari vous employez et quel package serveur web (version apache, php, et mysql ?)

Ah, there are two undocumented things there :

- I renamed 'table' to a more general 'content' in config files in the dev. version. We work with content, not table if we look at it from the right angle. Tables are an implementation detail. We can define a "contact message" content type and choose to generate a contact form and only email it to someone (it won't be stored in a database table in this case). So I think that having $config['content']['contact_message'] is more logic than $config['table']['contact_message']

- In fact you can do any kind of relations within thinkedit :

- you can relate a node to another node
- you can relate a content to a node
- you can relate a node to a file
- etc ...

Technically it's a single many to many table storing everything to make it easier to newbies.

The problem is in the template tag, te_link() which doesn't know how to link to a content item from a node.

Difference between node and content :

A node is the "position" in the tree of a content item.

A content item is only content, which is not placed somewhere in the tree.

You can put your content in the tree (that's a node) multiple times, which is great for content reuse.

Because a content is not placed somewhere in the tree, te_link() doesn't know how to build an href out of this content link.

I hope this makes sense...

I'm trying to use the svn versionof thinkedit.
Yes yes, I know it is not a stable released version, but I like dangerous experiences :-D. And I'm curious.
In the new version of thinkedit I noticed that "table" content are not more in the main content tree, which contains only pages.
The table contents instead are hidden, or showed in the main page by the configuration line

$data['table']['**********']['use']['main']='true';

I understood (tell me if I'm wrong) that to relate two contents in TE (shall I call Thinkedit TE for brevity? :-) ) I have to do it within TE itself, not in the database with foreign keys or similar methods.... ok. so if I try to relate a content to a page i get this alert:

[notice] te_link() : object is not a node or a filesystem, not yet supported. Most probably, you made a relation to a file or a content object instead of a node. Delete the relations you made to those. Or ask on Thinkedit mailing list in line 129 of file ******THINKEDIT_PATH*******\lib\thinkedit\template.lib.php

The message is clear. It sounds like "stop playing with unofficial version of thinkedit and be patient". Ok ok. But what will be the right mode (when il will be ready and supported, of course) to relate two contents and/or to insert a content in the tree?

Do you mean, to put some of the items I proposed inside the structure?
This can be a good idea as well (for instance, I plan to have a
"trash" folder inside the tree where deleted items are moved). My main
concern is to avoid having to insert items in the tree database on
installation, because in this case, upgrades are harder to manage.
We'll have to think more about this.

In my opinion the general idea of a menu is good. but i suggest to think where start to put things in a tree instead of the menu. For example maybe some contents are suitable to be directly accessible by the tree (decide what by configuration?).

But I'm a little late in the discussion. I have some general idea about good CMS interfaces and I don't want to be annoying with you guys that work around this project for long time :-).

With the adsdition of features, it is maybe time to think about a main
menu structure for thinkedit. The mnu would show on top of every page
and would be like a traditional application menu (File / Edit / Tools
/ Help ...)

Here is the proposal :

- Structure
- Favorites [...] (allow users to have favorites, and put them here)
- Manage favorites

- Content
- Users
- Discussions
- Any other table defined as user editable

- Files
