Yikes indeed.  Heal well.
Aerostich.  Looks good over a suit.  You'll look stylish doffing it in
the office.  Practice saying "Na noon na noo" and smiling to those who
raise an eyebrow.

For 15 years of commuting into DC, I wore khakis, loafers and a short
sleeve shirt in the summer.  Got a good tan on my arms.
I was day-yum lucky that I was wearing a "motorcycle suit" and a
blazer for my April 1 1983 low side just east of the Supreme Court.
Lost no skin, just four broken ribs.

Bought an Aerostich in 1997, and now feel weird not wearing it on a
bike.  For instance this afternoon, I hopped on the NX wearing shorts
to take down our "yard sales" signs in my neighborhood.  Felt nekkid.
Something must be protecting idiots.

my years
of wearing such, I  can't recall a time using them.   A buddy of mine did
send  himself
into the grassy area off an exit ramp. First thing he said was  "Glad I had
my kneepads on".

Then there was a woman on a local dual  sport type list and showed her knee
damage.
In a street accident, the  bike was fine.. but her knee required surgery. Not
cool. IIRC
she was  down for quite a while, huge interuption in her life, due to  knee
damage.

So to all you smart enough to wear full face helmets  but wear pants like me,
I highly
recommend the knee protection  too.  They're making the protection less bulky
and
it can be worn  under the pants. I got the ones that go halfway up the thighs
because
I  always have this idea in the back of my mind that when my bike  hits
something
i'll fly forward and my knees will hit the bars.. and  probably in that lower
thigh area.

I remember one time years ago i  did a front wheel lock up on some leaves and
went
face planted sliding  forwards.. without a full face helmet I'd be a lot
uglier than I already  am.

Or motoport ultra II kevlar.  That thing's saved my hide with minimal damage
and been patched in 3 days.  It's a bit bulky and not as stylish as some of
the jackets other people wear, but I know it'll do what I need it to.  I
really need to get a mesh version, though.

[Carl]: Yup, there are some Motoport fans on SabMag.
As for mesh,  I bought a Joe Rocket Phoenix several moons ago and
it''s great when plodding through traffic during DC's "Dog Days."
Gave up on the pants because the 'Stich pants are so much easier to
don and doff.  Plus, the mesh pants transfer the engine heat through
so darn well.

My 10 year old Aerostich Darien has just about had it (zippers bust, worn through in a few spots, etc.)  I was thinking of getting a one or two piece Roadcrafter to replace it, because then I'd be forced to wear the pants, where as when they are "optional" I forgo them a lot more than I use them.  (I'd have the 2 piece Roadcrafter zipped together most of the time).  But while doing the research, I came across information about the Motoport Ultra II Air Mesh Kevlar, and it does look good.  I've also heard that the pants are a lot easier to put on than then Aerostich Darien pants, although they still are separate.  They also have a one piece suit, but I haven't been able to find much information about it, other than what's on their website.  Anyone have experience with any of these?  (Matthew, it looks like the "Air Mesh Kevlar" is different from the version you have, am I reading that right?)  The reason I'm considering them over the Aerostich (which I haven't ruled out yet) !
is they seem to allow a lot more air flow.  I'm the type who gets hot and sweaty, even when it's in the 70s.

[Dave]  Many moons ago I bought a dc-cycles certified pre-owned roadcrafter
2 pc., had it tailored to fit and have been wearing it as appropriate ever
since.  Works great for motos, dogs, kids and cats.  Some hedge work too.
;-).  Initially, I bought this to augment my vent tech 2pc over suit.
Unfortunately they went under; I still have the jacket and pants.  They
worked very well for summer & the liners were nice.  Now others have come
along with good venting solutions.  Even so, the stich has a full
circumference zipper to attach the pants & jacket, rather than 12" of zipper
attaching the suit together.  The stich isn't perfect, there's definitely
cooler jackets in the summer; and then there's the "Mr. Wilson no pants"
(TMI Paul) for leggings.

... Motoport Ultra II Air Mesh Kevlar...  Sounds nice.  Could they shorten
the title to, say... 2 words?  ;-)

I have the Icon leg armour.  I should've had them on, under my khakis.  I wear them w/ Draggin Jeans, for posing.  I had the A*'s bionic knees, they were too bulky.
I usually wear Joe Rocket Phoenix pants to work and on rides.

Life is all about ass...
You're either covering it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, trying to get a piece of it, or behaving like one.

Thor Force Knee gaurds.  I think i have the 06 version. whichever ones that
had the clear plastic. I think they extend a little bit higher than the
other versions.  I got them on
closeout maybe with a coupon  (motoworldracing.com often has sales/coupons).

If I didn't have a pair and couldn't find the oens I have, I'd stay with the
same model.
I haven't seen anything else comparable yet.
