Re: The best network card for EFW??For a general rule, I try whenever when possible to use Intel, 3Com or Broadcom.
If you choose one of them, you will be very happy with the results.

I always prefer Intel over 3COm, with 3com I have had very bad experiencies in the past, lots of timeouts, watchdog problems, overruns loads. Intel NICs are more expensive but have the best performance IMHO, and the quad interfaces rules. :D > > If you choose one of them, you will be very happy with the results. > > Regards, > > > > Marcelo Santos > Digital Domain > +5511 4220-3518 Phone > +5511 9768-3330 Mobile > marcelo@... > www.digitaldomain.com.br > Solutions for a Digital World > > On Mon, Sep 1, 2008 at 15:07, Edmundo Robles L. > > Hello! > > A saw many post saying that realtek has many troubles with EFW, then > > i wish to know which is the best card that you sugessted to me. > > > > Thank in adavnce and best regards. > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's > > challenge > > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great > > prizes > > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the > > world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > > _______________________________________________ > > Efw-user mailing list > > Efw-user@... > > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/efw-user -- Jorge Armando Medina Computación Gráfica de México Web: www.e-compugraf.com Tel: 55 51 40 72 email: jmedina@... Re: The best network card for EFW??Very strange... I'm using 3Com Nics for a long time... Since Netware 3.12... And I never get big trouble with them.
But, I agree with you about the Intel NICs. The extra cost justifies the great performance in almost every scenarios.

Re: The best network card for EFW??broadcom, intel ,but we use some cheap realtek 8169 and 8139 based card without any problem(also with EFW).
Avoid desktop board integrated cards(Marvell, NVIDIA, realtek)! (not just EFW, any other linux) Z. 2008/9/1 Edmundo Robles L. <erobles@...>

Re: The best network card for EFW??I have had serious issues with the 8169. It doesn't seem to work well under the sorts of loads that a firewall experiences.

(not > just EFW, any other linux) Marvel?! IIRC, marvel is at same level (or even higher) performance than the intel one, with good support for open-source developers but even managing to being cheaper... or something changed in the past few years? higuita -- Naturally the common people don't want war... but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country. -- Hermann Goering, Nazi and war criminal, 1883-1946 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Efw-user mailing list Efw-user@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/efw-user |
