Hello SJ friends.

Here in Australia, I saw this funny thing recently.

http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2006/07/05/costa_narrowweb__300x386,0.jpg
Michael Costa is a prominent politician in NSW parliament in Sydney

He's also called "Dr Evil" due to his uncanny resemblance to a certain film villian of recent years.
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,,6022544,00.jpg
Is a cartoon of Costa in the national press here recently.
Can you see the resemblance to the K1 Robot in the '74 story?.
http://lightning70.tripod.com/robot.html

I thought it was quite amusing.
Clearly the cartoonist is a Dr Who supporter eh!.

I'm well and working on a new research paper, which occupies my time.
We need a lot of rain though here especially in Tasmania where I live.
The drought continues even into autumn......

pip pip,
Phil in Sth Croydon... sort of..

I've not read it, but has anyone else?.

Hope you have a good time in Russia, Llin. If you even get this message while you are there. I just got a Ukranian boy in my class who, of course, speaks Russian. He's finding things tough at the moment but should be fine by the end of the yr. We don't have many foreign kids. 60% Aboriginal, the rest white with one chinese and one filpina. Not much variety, I"m afraid. I"m really looking forward to your stories when you get back. Make sure you fill us in.

I often drop by the site here and have a look about.
I wonder if in Mockba they still have that enclosed space exhibition?.
No heating in winter but of real interest to space historians .
Sadly I heard in the '90's some twits turned it into a car yard etc.....

I'm waiting to see the Five Doctors dvd which should reach my post office here in Australia
any day now and hopefully for Easter.
So while I'm educating Russia's youth about the joys of Doctor Who - and the English language - I hope you guys all have a nice Easter and a nice month generally, and I hope you all keep enjoying the forum while I'm gone.
I'm planning to work on some stuff for the site while I'm out there, so hopefully there'll be a big update when I get back! Which is in mid-April, so not too long really!

Hi! Hope that your chem test went well!

Bill and Ted are the main characters from a HILARIOUS 1980's movie called _Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure_. You should watch it when you get the chance; it is sooooo funny! Bill and Ted are Valley Boys from San Dimas (a suburb of Los Angeles) who are in danger of failing their history class. A mysterious figure from the future leads them on a time-traveling adventure so that they can meet famous historical figures and learn enough to pass their test. They travel thru time in a telephone booth...it's kind of like Dr. Who, California style. :)

When my husband was 14 years old one of his friends bet him that he couldn't watch this movie every day for a month. My husband won the bet...and even though he has seen _Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure_ so many times, it is still one of his favorites. So you can tell that it is really a good movie. Oh, and Keanu Reeves, who is always fun to watch, plays Ted.

If you watch the movie, I hope you like it, dude!

After reading for several hours I have cometo the inevitable conclusion: I am the youngest (or one of)

person on this borad. My life seems significantly dull by comparioson. Its bassically puberty, GCSE's (or

high school for anyone in america, and GCSE's are what you do at sixteen, only I'll be taking mine at

fifteen beacuse I am young for my year, except for Drama which I had to do out of school because I

didn't have any spaces left) and SJ in my spare time. So I'm juggling twelve GCSE's and a falling

(more like fallen) apart family which leaves me to clean up the mess. But I am really not cpomplaining, my

mum is working super hard, and she is doing a super duper job. All I can see for the next four months is

stress and coursework. But I'll get over it. My life is just mates hanging out in parks, paperclips in an all

girls grammar school and mooiching at home. I have no job to do,and no kids to look after (unless you

Same old same-old, really. Work, sleep. Dance class is picking up, as we're starting to train for a professional performance in late April. We're dancing back-up during the Michael Jackson "Thriller" number, I's gonna be a zombie XDDD So we have to reeeeeally tighten up our execution.

Been watching Torchwood and kvetching about how it's not as good as Sarah Jane Adventures *LOL* Well it isn't, it just isn't as tight or as well thought out. The characters still seem one-dimensional (although I notice they're *trying* to do something with Toshiko) and Captain Jack still gives the impression of trying to herd cats. They're supposed to be a crack team of alien experts, well I think the crack team is over there on Bannerman Road :-P They *still* can't seem to save anybody. It speaks volumes when an old woman and a couple of high school kids are more effective, a better team, and save more lives (including alien ones) than this group of supposed experts :-P And they dress better too. Dressing all in black isn't "naff" or intimidating, guys, it just says "I have no idea what to wear" XD

I think the most telling point is that Dead Ringers zinged Torchwood several times, but hasn't touched Sarah Jane Adventures ^_~ But enough of my kvetching! (I do like Torchwood; I like to hate it. I watch it so I can hate it in detail and be very certain of exactly what I hate about it ^_^ )

Last year I worked part time...3 days a week for the first time in 20 yrs. This yr I'm back full time as a classroom teacher and although I have only 19 kids and they are lovely and I'm so enjoying being back on class doing fun things with the kids, I am finding the workload to be unbearable. Being a disadvantaged school, we have alot of special programmes and initiatives which put alot more work onto us regular teachers. The job alone is more than enough to take up most of our school and home time but with this other stuff, which I don't think really helps at all, I am totally exhausted and have been working 18 hour days, 7 days a week and school only started back a week and a half ago. I"m currently updating my details to put a transfer in to a school that doesn't have all this extra stuff to deal with. I've put alot of time and effort into the job over the yrs and now I've decided that I deserve a life of my own. I had that last yr and i"m so pleased that I had that part time yr to really be a decent mother and wife and also enjoy myself as well. So.....here's to the new year....that I survive it and here's hoping my transfer will be approved and I can move on to greener pastures and a more fullfilling and healthy life.

Incidently, one of the reasons for the ridiculously impractical shoes in the 70s was that Lis Sladen is very small, around 5'3" IIRC. Since Tom Baker is 6'4", the cameramen often had trouble getting them into the shots properly, so Lis was put up on boxes or into ludicrously high heels. When she was offered The Sarah Jane Adventures, one of Lis's conditions was apparently "No stilts." Hence the lovely practical flat boots we know and love ^__^

Thank you Llin for your welcome,

I've been reading your and your colleagues work on this site for nearly a year now.
Good work!.

Here in Australia, we've not seen the SJA here, but perhaps our ABC will air it later this year- we hope.
They usually put Dr Who on and the ABC (your BBC equivalent) does a fair job airing British shows here. (the commerical stations mainly air cheap yank imports, which don't last long here).
I've heard that Revenge of the Cybermen may be a goer, as the DVD people who churn out the discs have said they like to fill in gaps in series, so 'Revenge' seems to be a likely candidate.
Also I hear a DVD commentary for Planet of the Spiders has been done, but I have no special knowledge of such matters, but Lis Sladen did late last year make a comment on how under-rated "Death to the Daleks " was as a story.
Was she hinting at all?.............. hmmmm.

Thanks again for a informative site you have here, good for a Sarah Jane supporter like me!.
see you in Wessex castle,

Greetings,
I've been popping by this site for about a year now (on and off), looking up aspects of Dr Who and Sarah Jane.
I'm from Australia and part of my interest is in filling in gaps such a stories I've not properly seen since these stories were aired here in the '70's and '80's.
Here the ABC used to air Dr who every weeknight late in the afteroon and it was only much later that I learn't that the show was actually aired by the BBC every week, during a series.
(one doesn't realise that as a child).
So it was always a struggle to get home from school, get endless jobs done and find time to
sit down and watch the show, hence there are gaps in the stories I've seen.
Recent years have seen me seek out these video's and DVD's and sites like this help too in shedding detailson Dr who and Sarah Jane.
Good to see a forum about the place now.
I'm keen to learn of upcoming DVD's with Sarah Jane and I've heard a few possibilities mentioned for this year.
Apart from that, I write about Mt Everest history and climb, enjoy cricket and '70's British shows ranging from comedies, science fiction and more drama .
Good to see the site here flourish.
your friend, Phil

Ooooohhh....
I'm reluctant to get my hopes up too much, but I would love to see Paul McGann as the Doctor again. His audios are lovely, it's criminal that he didn't get to play the Doctor longer onscreen.
And multi-doctor episodes are always fun.

Aren't they those things that you make at a bonfire where you have two digestive biscuits (except I don't think they're called that in America) and you melt a marshmallow and chocolatey stuff between them and it's like a sweet marshmallow sandwich thing?
