Last night I started watching this, purely because I had it handy and I couldn't be bothered looking for anything else, and I suddenly remembered how much I actually really like it! It seems to be the sort of story that doesn't often show up on lists of favourites, but it really does have its moments. The chemistry between Sarah and the Doctor really gets going here, with Sarah teasing him for most of the first episode - Sarah is ultra-cute, and you can see the beginning of the sort of relationship she later has with Four, which really makes me wonder how things would have developed if Jon Pertwee hadn't left... Also, the plot is quite exciting, really, even if six episodes does seem a little long.
Anyway, I just thought I'd mention how much I've been enjoying this underappreciated story!

To be honest, I haven't seen it.
I don't even know if it's available on DVD (I doubt it though, I haven't seen it around). I would like to though.

I like The Monster of Peladon too, too be honest I think people get put off because it's a six part story that could easily have been done in four. Still it's probaby a story that goes on my list of favourites.

Yeah, I really like _The Monster of Peladon_ too.  I've never seen it, but I've read the Target novelization a few times.  Those Target books are great--they are such quick reads.  I read my first one around the age of 9, and I've been keeping a list since then of all the ones I've read.  It's fun to look at the list and see how my handwriting has changed over the years.  :)

I too like the Monster of Peladon......one of the better Jon Pertwee eps that Sarah is in. I really love the part where she thinks he is dead and he wakes up and scares the life out of her then admonishes her for being annoyed that she wasted all that worry for nothing. They do have a great relationship and it would have been nice for JP to hang around just a bit longer as it would have been good to have a few more stories with Sarah and that doctor. It seemed like they were just warming up and getting a bit of a rapport when JP left. In the DVD interview for the Planet of Evil, Elisabeth Sladen comments on how, by the time they shot that story, she and Tom had become very comfortable with eachother and that shows in the way Sarah and Doctor interract and respond to eachother. More time with JP would have really added to what was already something good between them.

Haha, yes, I watched that bit last night! It's possibly the most fantastic reaction to anything I have ever seen, she jumps about half a mile!

Do they still do reruns where you live? They used to do them all the time when I was young but not so much lately, although just before the new series started [3 yrs ago now] they ran the entire series right from the beginning. I ran out and bought a bunch of blank videos and I taped every single episode. Except the first one because ........I can't believe I did this......shame........I forgot. As a result I have every single ep, all on tape. Of course I ended up buying No.1 on DVD thankfully. So I have the old videos I taped when I was young plus the ones I taped 3 yrs ago. I have to say that if they put out more SJS DVDs, Peladon is the one they should do next. Just on the topic of SJS DVDs, aren't we lucky that SJS has been resurrected via School Reunion and then SJA, because that may make them put out more DVDs with Sarah than they originally may have.

At the moment one of the digital channels is showing Classic Who every evening, but they've started from Robot, so no Pertwee! But it does mean that it'll be Sarah episodes for quite a good while now, which is lovely.

Saw this site while searching for reviews of the Monster of Peladon.

Wanted to say that the Monster of Peladon is definitely available in a video tape format.

Someone recently bought it for me off an internet source.  It was on the expensive side for a Whovie (Who+movie) though.

The Curse of Peladon was great.  We are only about halfway through with the Monster of Peladon.  Good but different from the Curse of Peladon.

I absolutely loved this episode, it was the first one of Sarah with Jon pertwee's doctor that i saw. Their relationship is soo cute and the rapport between them is amazing, i am totally seeing them as a pairing now lol so in my little world Sarah is with like the 3rd 4th and 10th doctors and any others that are around lol.
I didn't mind this story being in 6 parts, i didn't even think that it should have been up in 4 parts because it allowed lots of cute moments between them, i love how they seem to be constantly touching each other and i was hooked completely, the cliff hangers are soo annoying i'm literally on the edge of my seat (even though i know that they both live). It is such a great story
