Perhaps so but I couldn't get it to convert negative decimal numbers to hex.

Google is pretty good, fast, and you probably use it anyway.  Try
these searches:

-1378 to hex
72 F to C
3 gallons to ml (google.com *defaults* to US gallons...
7 imperial gallons to litres ("google.co.uk" *defaults* to imperial
gallons..... but you can override either)
12*(3+4^7)/sqrt(78)
100 microfarads to picofarads
3 millihenries to henries
4.2 inches to cm

Note that it can also handle mixed units and units in general in calculations.

For example:

(50 pounds) * 2 (meters per (second^2)) = 45.359237 newtons
(10e3 ohms) * 100 picofarads = 1 microsecond

Also for 19" rack users:

12U in mm

Or even "12U in in "

Cheers,

Unluckily it doesn't seem to be able to handle the proper unit
abbreviations, though: "100 pF in nF" and similar doesn't fly.

1U/day in furlongs/fortnight returns:

1 (U / day) = 0.00309343434 furlongs / fortnight

Frightening. Very frightening.

So any favorites for an equivilently smart calculator, but in a desktop
app?
