... this a large crowd at World Youth Day yesterday in Sydney and you
can see my shadow clinging to the fence in the background. Sometimes
its more trouble than its worth expunging shadows especially when like
here they are not directly connected apparently to an invisible
photographer. People dont go round mentally counting shadows usually.
Another thing about this shadow is that you can see the flat profile of
my "custom" low-nadir-profile backpack. This is a soft guitar case that
I cut most of the neck off of and added velcro tags etc to so I could
have a case for my camera plus camera spinner assembly that was mostly
flat against my back when empty.

Hi Juergen
there are flags all over at World Youth Day, like the Olympics or
World
Cup for flags. And flagpoles too, lots of interest for pole panorama
practioners. The Extendapole brand looks good.

Here is the Pope in his Popemobile last night, whizzing past me in
the
dusk.
http://www.mediavr.com/popemobile.htm
One of those times when I reminded myself to start saving up for a
D700.
Another three stops (this is at 1/50 at ISO 1000, at f2.8) would have
frozen his car. Here I was lucky as my
1/50 sec coincided with a flash from the other side of the street so
there is motion blur plus a sharp image so you can see him sort of. I
was tempted to give him a better waving hand and looked up "pope
waving" on Google Images but thought better of it in the end :-)

My radio release for my camera rotator stopped working so I had to
turn
the pole round by hand. Hence the weird disinterest shown by some of
the pedestrians and half the crowd looking in the wrong direction --
oh
well!

The panorama gods smiled on me today and I had a better chance to grab
a panorama of the Pope in his Popemobile
http://www.mediavr.com/poperandwick2.htm
the crowd here (only a section in the pano) was meant to be the largest
crowd ever in Australia history -- some hundreds of thousands

Peter, Great pano as usual ...
Could you share your set up with this one  ?

Is 10,5 Nikon,  4 shots around ?

Is the pope ( sorry..... pole ) in 3.5  meters up area ?

It looks like Popemobile is driving in mud ....

Pre run before a horse race :-?
regards

Ups: the Pope look like a headless puppy.
Due to the windows & movement though but
I can´t find his head :-(
Interesting to see that due to the time lapse some cameras (and people)
point to the previous position of the Popemobile.

Nice pano as always though.

Ciao
Mike

yes these motorcade panos need very rapid photography -- I didnt have
a camera rotator  -- so just as the Pope was arriving I shot left
right and front, and then beforehand I had done a back where people
were mostly looking forward but disinterestedly --- and then tried to
cobble them all together

better would be a full circle fisheye, rapid front and back shots and
then extra shots left and right for the missing bits

yes this is a horse track normally (track condition was firm to hard
apparently :-) )

it is 5D/10.5 400iso 1/2000sec f5.6 4 shots

....

forget "Snakes on a Plane" ...what about "Nuns on a Bus"
http://www.mediavr.com/nunsbus.htm
..this was difficult to shoot! crouched underneath a pole on a moving
bus
