T61p FirewireHello, I recently bought a T61P type 6457-BGQ. I wish to buy a firewire
analogue/digital converter to work with the four pin built in firewire the T61P has. I have not tested this port with any devices and wondered, before I spend any money, if the built in firewire port works properly with Debian Lenny, Ubuntu 8.04, 64Studio? Are there any issues with the firewire hardware that might cause problems or conflicts with my desired hardware? I have a ThinkPad R52 with a Ricoh Co Ltd R5C552 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 08) built in - no problems here with Ubuntu 8.04. Used it with a Samsung MiniDV Camcorder a few days ago (fetching the video data with Kino). Module "raw1394" and "dv1394" is loaded when plugging the camcorder in. You could open a terminal and type: lspci | grep -i firewire This should give you detailed info about the built in firewire hardware! -- MfG/Regards, Florian Auer *** Microsoft Office? AFAIK it should work fine. But check out the http://www.linux1394.org/ site in case you want to use the interface for slightly unusual purposes, since the more mainstream part of the spec is implemented, but other parts aren't, AFAIK.
