T61 ram upgrade

i know this has been covered before (and i've been through it) but just
a quickie and in summary...

i have a T61 with 2GB ram. about to get another 2gb ram. aside from a
bigmem kernel, is there anything else (in short) that i will need to do
to get all 4gb ram recognised and utilised? (also, btw, i'm currently
running 32bit - no plans to go to 64 for various reasons right now)
