Spring changes

Hi Jose,

David is looking at Tomcat async/io integration, so I created a  
ContainerAbstraction interface, which complicated the startup  
sequence. This lead me to create a ContainerConfigurationException and  
an extra method on ContainerUtil.
The net effect is the loss of 10 or so lines from the 2 Spring start  
points. Attaching a patch. If you're happy, I'll check it in.
