Solaris 10 client authentication with IPlanet server 5.1

I am trying to set up a Solaris 10  server using padl pam_ldap.   This server is client only trying to authenticate ssh user logins against another Solaris server running IPlanet 5.1 Directory server.   I have had no luck and wonder if anyone has ever set this up to work correctly?
