Wow that is impressive.  Here in southern AZ we only average about 4-5 hrs.

FWIW I there is a difference between Solar Insolation (i.e. the usuable
amount of solar radiation) and hours of daylight.

According to every chart I've seen, the only places in California that
average over 5 hours of solar insolation a day are in the deserts in the
SE portion of the state.

The used solar system that powers my EV cost about $5000 per kiloWatt.

Sunshine here averages about 5 hours per day, or 1825 hours per year.

Over ten years my cost will be about $0.274 per kiloWatt hour.

The 10 or so local AVCON  chargers are free.

My truck often charges at an Avcon 1-1/4mi away - the walk is all I
pay for the electricity (that, and my taxes), so I am definitely an
advocate for public charging. We have a half-dozen sites in our town
alone with Avcon boxes to use. I use deciduous trees to keep my house
shaded, so solar would be something of a conflict.

P.S.- 5 hours a day average solar exposure? In California?! Must be in
a coastal area with cloud cover - we get way more sun than that, and
we're about 20mi west of the SF bay.

My mistake - I read it as simple solar exposure, not insolation.
