Signals with an object instance as user_data

Hi all,

supposing I have two widgets, children of the same container, is
it safe to let them interact with signals without keeping any
reference?

In other words, could I safely call g_signal_connect() instead
of g_signal_connect_object() if they are part of the same
container?
