Shower cubicleI was hoping to be able to fit a shower cubicle in our barge. All the
cubicles I've found so far come with glass doors. Is the vibration of the barge, when under way, likely to cause evilitude to happen to glass doors? The floor of the bathroom is steel and, while I might be able to get a thin rubber sheet on top of it, height restrictions mean there isn't room for very much more to separate the shower tray from the floor. bjg -- Brian J Goggin, tug-barge Knocknagow Stradbally North, Castleconnell, Co Limerick, Ireland E bjg@..., T/F +353-61-377057 ------------------------------------------------- Visit http://www.barges.org for info, events, to buy and sell barges or equipment. ------------------------------------------------------ You can manage your records yourself, including unsubscribing and retrieving lost passwords at http://www.barges.org/newsgroups#maint |

Re: Shower cubicleIf you are looking for exterior grade self adhesive rubber sheet, take a look at: http://www.kiowa.co.uk/Products/Rubber_and_Sponge_/Sponge/Bruiseproof_Sponge /Adhesive_Backed_Bruiseproof_Sponge It is a cushioning sponge with a hard shiny waterproof surface; a good insulator and tough enough to walk on. Re: Shower cubicleWhen refitting the bathroom on our barge recently we opted for a "walk in" shower cubicle design, without any doors. The downside is that these do tend to have a larger footprint, but there are no doors to worry about. From my research, the quality of the doors and their hinges/sliding mechanism seemed to be very poor unless a very expensive cubicle was specified. I also think that fitting them exactly level would be important to get them to fit and open/close correctly - and that isn't as easy in a barge as a in a house! The walk in design offered better build quality vs cost.

Re: Shower cubicleHi Brian,
We have glass doors and have no problem. I preferred a larger shower compartment so bought a larger tray. The shower was going to be in a corner anyway so it is now across the end of our bathroom. I found a company that would make a sliding door panel to fit heightwise so just needed a very small return wall to line up with the sliding doors. The shower compartment is lined with cushion floor which is totally waterproof and has the minimum number of joins and is also a lot softer to bang your elbow into :-) David Heath Mirage -----Original Message----- From: dbamain-bounces@... Re: Shower cubicleWe have a corner shower unit with sliding (curved) glass doors. We had to
use the largest extension on the wall to allow for the lack of right-angled walls, but it's worked fine. The tray is stone and fixed with concrete. We also had to make the slope greater to allow for the emptying of the water tank reducing the slope of the drain (the additional slope also increased the non-right angles between the walls of course). No noticeable vibrations when underway. Lorna & Lawrence -----Original Message----- From: dbamain-bounces@...
