Should Maldini Retire?

Is Maldini really still ableto cut in Europe and at the top of Serie A at this stage in his career?  At 39 he is contemplating staying on for another season.  Should he have retired after winning the Champions League and now regrets not finishing on a high after the season Milan have had.

Kaka has slammed Milan's performance this season, surely half the problem is an ageing team costing a rediculous amount in wages.  It's time to develop new talent and change things at the the top.

My response to that is no - i know that age is the first thing that everyone brings up when milan lose, but i think that Maldini has been one of the best players in the last few games. Against arsenal he was strong, and is was a run from his own area, 70 yards that set up the second, and decisive 2nd goal for milan against Empoli yesterday. Forza Maldini!! what a legend.

He's good, but time to bring the next batch through i'm afraid.

Anyway Italy to win euro 2008 and an emotional Maldini to retire

Asides from Maldini to name a few:
Pippo 34
Seedorf 32
Fat Ron 32 - will not make a significant comeback
Ba 35
Ambrossini 30
Emerson 31
Cafu 37
oddo 31

All the wrong side of 30

Milan are a big club and should be seen to invest in new talent

Bonera (26)     Nesta (31)      Kaladze (30)     Jankulauski(30)

                              Pirlo  (28)
               Gattuso (30)             Gourcuff  (21)

                                   Kaka  (25)

                          Pato (18)      Gilardino  (25)

There are some players in their peak there, adding the older ones just adds experience, although i do agree that its time for inzaghi, ronaldo, cafu and emerson to move on. I think they should buy Amelia or Frey to go in goal though, as kalac and dida are pretty old.

Hang on, your argument is flawed there, you've left Maldini out, Dida is only 34 he can keep going for at least 4 more seasons.  Gilardino has been a flop and they can't bring Cheva back, that would just send them down the same path they are following now.  All change at the very top bring in "the special one"

Looks like the decision may be out of his hand, with Mexes potentially on his way in first team chances will be limited
