Relay Problem??

Is there a relay that prevents the fuel pump from operating AND disables the starting system as well??

My 86 1100 suddenly decided that it didn't want to start -- no juice getting to the starter or solenoid.  Additionally, no juice to the fuel pump either.  All fuses are OK, including the main.  Also, all lights come on and battery is fully charged.  I unplugged the fuel pump and tested it off the battery -- OK.

The Clymer manual doesn't specifically state the starting circuit cutoff relay will also disable the fuel pump at the same time.  Additionally, I don't see in the manual any mention of the fuel pump control module.  Is it the diode?  The manual doesn't exactly state what that does either.  What the heck!!

Of course I have the tranny in neutral, kickstand up and the stop switch on run.
