I'm currently in charge of recruiting for the guild. And I'm going to do what I usually do about such things .... try to organize something. ;)
I think for a guild to be effective at recruiting takes a team effort. So, I am asking for several (ideally a dozen or more) ppl to be part of the recruitment team. Would be best to be at least some ppl of different levels, races, and/or stomping grounds/activities involved. That way we're recruiting as all those levels and places, too. After all, the ones most likely to be invited and accept those invitations are ppl you run into and play with from day to day.
Everyone is invited to help, of course, and really the more who participate, the easier it'll be. We'll want to make your recruitment rounds as casual and inobtrusive on your game time as possible. We'll keep it casual at first until we've had a chance to assess how it's going and how well everything is being covered.
Why is coverage going to be a consideration, some of you might ask? Because I'm going to ask you to keep things on the straight and narrow game policy-wise, as is guild policy. We won't be spamming Trade (or anywhere else for that matter, of course). We want ppl to perceive us as helpful and friendly, not annoying and desperate. So, messages will only be put out on the general channel, which means you'll be covering the area you're currently in. (Anyone fancy advertising from griffon-back? ;p)
Over the next week or so, I'll be working up a macro or 3 as we start to get organized, which I will post here as I feel they're well completed. If you have any suggestions for any of the things I've talked about here, feel free to share. :)
Well, it seems the organize thing never got off the ground. But, I do have a nice macro for you all to use. Here it is ...
/1 Outriders, a friendly, long-term guild is looking for players to develop for or already ready for high-end instances. Accepting all specs and lvl 10+. We have a tabard, multi-tab bank and website: www.outridersguild.org. Whisp for invite or info.
To make this a macro, all you have to do is copy the above text into your computer's clipboard (using ctrl-C or apple-C or whatever works). Then go into the game, and enter /macro into the chat console. Type in a name (like "recruit"), pick an icon, and click OK. Then paste the text from above into the text box, drag the new macro icon to one of your control bars, and then exit from the macro tab.
Now you can post the message by just hitting the macro icon. But, don't spam, of course. Just do it every 10 to 15 mins. That should be sufficient to get the attention of anyone who's really looking for a guild.
