Recording audio into Wav or MP3

Hi,

 

Is It possible to record audio data into wav or mp3 format in Red5 application?  Do I need to have flex call an application method that coverts the flv file into .wav or .mp3? 

If so, does anyone know of any good open source converter that can do the flv transcoding?

 

If I want to plave .wav or .mp3, do I need to transcode it to flv first?
