Recording Issue

I've just brought a new PC which runs Vista. The old PC ran XP.  I've been using Audacity 1.2.4b on the XP machine and have installed this version on the new Vista machine but the input menu will not allow me to select an input. I copy from Wave and Input but this is not an option. I've alos installed the latest verion of Audacity but still no joy. I've updated the sound driver as per Audacity's help section but again still no joy.

Please help.
