Since each hunting situation is different, there is not one gun best for all hog hunting. However some calibers will cover far more situations than others. For still hunting I have used a 25-06 and a 30-06 with equally good results. Larger calibers aren't mandatory but give you a larger margin of error as far as shot placement goes. I have cleanly killed many hogs with a well placed .204 shot. But when it comes to intense situations, it is nice to have something larger with more shock value. Equally as important to caliber though, is being comfortable with the gun and having the confidence that you can place the shot where you want when the time comes.
