matthias,

sorry to have to come back to you on the same topic. there was one
question still left over from the last time i was asking:

on a related point: in the meantime i have been experimenting with
directing the videos.antville page (and, alternatively, its /rss)
through feedburner, a site/service that reformats feeds for rss2 and
podcast compliance. as the feedburner developers themselves have noted,
strangely enough, in both cases, antville strips out all html markup
contained in the stories, so that these elements do not show up in the
feeds (be they the antville page's own /rss or the feedburner-generatd
feed of the videos.antville page itself)

in this respect antville behaves differently than all the other common
blogging platforms. is there a specific reason the html gets stripped
out? is it to do with the fact that the marked-up elements are not
referring to files uploaded to antville itself, but are merely links to
files elsewhere? is there a way to keep the html in the body of the
stories as it's fed out (and is the only solution the separate fields
you mentioned above)?

thanks so much for your time with this - i really hope i'll be able to
find a solution that lets antville keep up with (even ahead of!) the
other platforms.

philip

as far as i can remember, it is simply the antville policy about rss
feeds to not contain markup.. unless you're able to patch the antville
source you won't be able to get the code into your feed, because it
gets stripped at systemlevel..

file: code/Site/actions.js, line 183 (at least it should be around
there somewhere..)

            text: story.getRenderedContentPart("text").clip(500),

say it ain't so...

or rather: why on earth is that?

and: can an antville site owner tinker with the source? or will this
have to be done at the developer level, meaning we'll just have to wait
for a new version of antville? (on which subject: will there ever be
another version of antville?)

come on guys, there must be a way to get antville up to par on the xml
feed front...

(quietly despairing)

Antville holds his own opinions about some things, but you may want to have a look at http://help.antville.org/stories/899248/

Cheers,
David
