Re: The Ken Parsons ProjectLol..that's even better- The Ken Alan Parsons Project Anyway, I wouldn't sweat the ventilation fan up in the trunk. Mine isn't force ventilated and I have no evidence of corrosion from hydrogen gas. The natural openings for the steering column, and where the fuel tank was are plenty. Plus, my charger is pretty smart and gassing is kept to a minimum. Yes, the old fuel fill access is now the charging port. I just have a marine grade 110v plug in there. I need to make some twist-lock adaptors so I can charge down in old town Annapolis though... I didn't make my battery racks but they're pretty good. In the motor compartment, I think they bolt to the transmission horns along with the motor, and the rack for the two batteries over the motor are bolted to the rack for the two "side saddle" batteries. Your car has that "treasure chest" type of access to the motor compartment which makes things a little more interesting. I think you could basically enlarge that access hatch greatly and put as many batteries around your motor as will fit. That'll let you keep the cargo area. Make sure you get some coil-over shocks to help handle the load. ________________________________ Message: 22 Date: Thu, 15 May 2008 00:04:57 -0700 (PDT) From: kenaparsons Subject: Re: [EVDL] The Ken Parsons Project (Was: Re: Pricing for anEV project) To: ev@...: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hey Richard, Good idea, esp since my middle name is a Welsh version of Alan (Alwyn)... I like the look of your battery placement and am quite open to yoursuggestions. Right now I'm considering doing 5 along the back of the passenger seat and three up front (two in the spare tire well) for a 96vsystem. I'm interested in having a welder place 4 underneath near the motor but don't think the motor mount will accommodate them. How did you mount your motor and get batteries around it? How do you vent your batteries up front? I'm also going to use the former gas tank access for my charger cable(which looks like what you did) so I don't know where to vent the fan.
