Sorry, Dan I don't know what I'm looking and his description isn't ringing any bells.  When you get it, send pics of it in use.

 

That said any number of lenses use something behind the front lens.  Sometimes as just a limiting stop, sometimes as the the stop holder itself, instead of cutting up the lens.

 

Sorry, but I need a better sense of whets going on.
