Posting for CJay here. His post got way-layed over to me, so I'm
re-posting his comments to my thread here for him.

What really sets these two bike off are the gas tanks. Each takes a
different approach, with the Trump's tank narrow and high and the
Bullet's tank wide and low, but both are the most beautiful tanks I
have ever seen on a motor cycle anywhere. And who say's only the
Italians can make pretty machinery.

You lucky chaps never had the uk spec Bonnie tank.  It was very wide at the rear and really looked at odds with the seat - like the later 850 Notrun ones, but not so well executed.  I have a 14.5 liter (yes, me using metric and US spelling) on the RE, that's sort of short and wide (like me), but the individual seat makes it look (to me) quite acceptable.  hopeless for low bars though..some of the Ariel Hunters had chrome flutes in recesses in the tops - they looked ok.   Have any of you seen the 14.5l tanks with parcel racks attached?

So why is it that we have these differences between the English and
US market? I mean I can understand having the steering wheels on
different sides but gas tanks?

It is ironic that one of the most popular colors for Enfields (if not
the most popular color) here in the US is (instantly recognizable on
this side of the pond as) British Racing Green, but is not offered in
the British market!

Go figure! Marketing pukes!

God only knows why they do this!  I think the older Brit riders were too conservative (frightened of having the wrong image?) to have well shaped tank, good colours, comfy bars, and a seat that fitted, they preferred their stiff upper lips and sore bits. Vetter's Hurricane was pretty smart too, something I've always liked.  I'm more than happy with my Bullet, and yes, despite all my negative words, I'd have another Bonnie, though not my old one again.
