I have a problem similar to yours (also Win2k, etc), but my install of 6.1 went to completion. Whenever I try to start NetBeans, nothing seems to happen. I can see in Task Manager that it starts up and then immediately exits. No idea why.
Anyway, I wanted to try the "installer-less zip". I went to
http://download.netbeans.org/netbeans/6.1/final/zip/ and downloaded a couple of the zips, but nothing seems to be what I need.
Can you please take a few moments, and describe the install that worked for you? Or, point me to the instructions? Gee, thanks!
