All,

We just migrated a rather large wiki to use mediawiki and we are running
into problems with the larger pages that we haven't experianced before. I've
just embedding 1/2 the page to solve the problem and that works but the
users 1. Don't know how to do that and 2. Don't want to do that as they've
never had to do it before. From what I can tell the issue stems from the
browser level as most documentation says. Is there a known work around for
this problem. It's a very large issue as people are typing a lot into a page
then saving it and they end up with a white screen .......... and no data is
saved.

All,

After some more looking into it it doesn't seem to just be large pages
anymore. It would seem that random pages won't actually save after clicking
save just displays a white page. At first I made the assumption that the
pages were very large as we've had the problem before. That just isn't the
case even on short pages often when you click save it takes a very long time
and then gives you a nice white screen.

This is very frustrating..... any advice would be a big help !

Thank You,
Jon Welters

Hi Jon,

Are you getting any errors in your log files?  Do the white pages on
save happen on newly created pages too, or only the ones imported from
your old wiki?  What was your old wiki?  Can you give us the link to
your wiki or is it internal?  If you can't let us look at your wiki, can
you give us the versions from your Special:Versions page?

Thanks!
-Courtney

Courtney,

Thanks for your response. I ended up enabling php errors and it uncovred
that in my php.ini file the post time was set to 20 seconds. The server the
wiki is running on isn't all that great so at times when multiple people are
uploading it took longer then that. I just set the number higher and set the
PHP Memory Max to be higher. Seemed to temparily solve the problem. Long
term it's looking like we need to updgrade the old server.

Also, this has been a large project, and it's comming to an end for us.
Thank you to everyone who helped out on the mailing list ! We've come a long
way from a textile based ruby wiki. You've been a big help and you are
appreciated !
