No I'm in western mid-central Indiana but plan to head to Lake Michigan from time to time. Maybe we could coordinate something at that time. Rex Tatflies@... wrote: Rex, Are you on Lake Michigan? Re: Lake Michigan?Tom,
I will be in Monroe Harbor when I sail up from Michigan City next weekend. Send me a note if you would like to come up to take a look. Re: Lake Michigan?Slim:
Besides Michigan, some smaller lakes in central and southern portions (Freeman near Monticello, Eagle Creek at the edge of Indianapolis, and Monroe south near Bloomington). Never sailed Wawasee but been there and agree it looks neat. Another in that area I've never visited but heard lays well after a high pressure moves through the Great Lakes (NW winds) is Mississinewa which is near Peru -- not too far south of Ft Wayne. Rex "salm@..." <salm@...> wrote: Rex, Whereabouts do you sail in IN? I'm working quite a lot in Ft. Wayne lately and haven't gone sailing here but I did tow my fishing boat down here this time and I've had a great time motoring around on the three rivers here in FW. I drove up and looked at Lake Wawasee (sp?) and thought it looked like a fine place to sail--I might bring the Rhodes down one of these times. Re: Lake Michigan & LightningsHey Carol,
I knew there was some Lightning lurkers out there. I too learned to sail on a lightning. It was a bit past its prime, wooden hull with a complete irrigation system. Gee they were fun boats to sail. Mine was an Italian built mahogany beauty 1949 vintage. I finally decided one year to sai it from Naples, Italy to Turkey. Needless it isn't a blue water ship and it did take a couple of summers but what joy it brought. Thanks for sparking the memories. Hi Carol-- I'm curious where you sail? Our son lives just outside of Boulder and we're going to try to get out there this summer and I'm wondering if there are any places to rent sailboats? Last year we went up to Dillion lake with the hope of renting, but we didn't have reservations and there was nothing available. Probably just as well since it was rather windy that day and no doubt it would have put my sailing skills to a test. --Gregg Gregg MacMillan -- _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ T e c h n e G r a p h i c s, I n c. 1 . 8 0 0 . 7 7 1 . 3 1 7 1 2002 Ford Circle, Milford, OH 45150 mailto:gjm@... http://www.techgra.com _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ __________________________________________________ Use Rhodes22-list@..., Help? www.rhodes22.org/list |

Gregg Macmillan, et al who want to get high on a Rhodes 22...Gregg:
Subject: Sailing on the front range near Denver, Colarado. I helped Carol rig her boat at Chatfield State Park. According to my son, a resident of Arvada, CO, that is the bigest lake near Denver. You can locate it south of I-470 between CO121 and U. S. 85 on a map. I was on a very limited schedule and had to leave before she launched. I did not walk the marina. There were a number of sailboats there. While we were rigging her boat, a fellow was rigging what appeared to be a Precision 18. Lots of cat boats. Not enough water to sail a boat much bigger than a R22, although some of the boats at the marina may have been up to 30 foot, I did not see a boat lift. Lots of wind. Snow on Tuesday. Rivers too shallow to even use anything more than a kayak or canoe. If you are out visiting your son, contact Carol off list, promise lots of beer... the kind brewed in Boulder... But this deliberation does not extend to everything." (Harry Jaffa) Free speech is not false when it denies the use of the liberty to those intent on destroying the free society.
