Re: Installed but not appearing

Sorry for the inconvenience. Let's check a few things in the following steps.

1. Start Excel, Click 'Excel->Tools->Add-ins...', in the pop-up window find 'Digdb', make sure it's CHECKED. If you don't find Digdb in the Add-ins list, use the 'Browse...' button to browse to C:\Program Files\DigDB\DigDB.xla

2. OK out, close and restart Excel. If you see the DigDB menu, then fine. Otherwise, continue

3. Click 'Excel->Help->About Microsoft Excel', if you see a  button 'Disabled Items', check to see if DigDB has been disabled. If DigDB is in there, 'Enable' it. If you don't see any "Disabled Items", fine, close Excel. Restart Excel, if you see DigDB menu, fine. Otherwise, continue.

At this point, you lost DigDB menu mainly because Excel's menu control is corrupted. Excel uses a "Excel.xlb" file to control its menu items. You can locate that file and change the name to "backup.xlb". Then restart Excel, this will force Excel to generate a new Excel.xlb which gives you a fresh start with the menu bar. The steps are:

  1. Exit Excel
  2. Excel.xlb can be found at C:\Documents and Settings\*USER_NAME*\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel - *USER_NAME* needs to be replaced by your actual user name. If you don't know your username, go to C:\Documents and Settings\ and you should be able to recognize the folder of your user name, go in there, see if you can find the "Application data" folder. It may be hidden by default because it is a system folder. If you don't see this hidden folder, then simply use the folder address input box to append "Application data\Microsoft\Excel" to the existing folder address, then hit return, this will take you to the right folder.
  3. The file is a ".xlb" file but the ".xlb" extension may not show.
So the file may look like a regular Excel file with a displayed name
"Excel" (for Excel2000) or "Excel11" (for Office XP).
  4. Rename the file to "backup" or anything you like, then restart Excel.

You should now get the DigDB menu back.
