lacks of a very good open source/free IDE for Grails hinders its adoption. I hope the situation will improve in the future.

language ever created and just getting better.  Also, it makes it almost
completely seamless working with a mixed Java/Groovy project.  In addition,

although I didn't find it to be anywhere near the capabilities of intellij
yet.  Eclipse has a plugin with some decent capabilities but it's a bit
buggy.  But if you really want a good IDE there is no beating Intellij.
