Hey Dave & all-

There was a nice spot on the Channel 21 Youngstown Tv news yesterday about two guys from Akron

who are building EVs, they showed one based on a Honda Del Sol I think and it appeared to be a 6V

GC battery conversion. Are you guys on this list?? Think one's name was Weirich? but only caught the end

of the spot, but it was a nice presentation and they quoted reasonable mileage ranges and also gave

a decent cost estimate to do conversions.  This was nice to see EVs being promoted as not "pie-in-the-sky"

mega-expensive super high-tech conversions that would be out of the reach of the average hobbyist/mechanic,

but better yet the average consumer!!

If you guys are on the list, please let me know on here, or email me off list. I am in Youngstown and

doing two of my own conversions now but looking to do more conversions and build some more components

and cars.  This is what the general public needs from the EV community, seeing this kind of info in

the main stream media! ;>) Nice job guys!

Tim Meehan

Tim,
That would be Jim Weirick,
http://www.evalbum.com/1648
He bought my 1984 Fiero and sold it to Zap,
http://www.evalbum.com/264
He also had another freaky car that somehow stayed
together with 20 SAFT STM-180 NiCd's,
http://www.evalbum.com/643
I drove his Honda Del Sol a couple of weeks ago, and
it was actually a nice ride (but wires and stuff
hanging everywhere).
I don't think he's on this list, but he is on the
upcoming NE Ohio EV club (if anybody takes the lead
and makes this happen).

Rod,

I think Mr. Meehan would do a great job at heading up a NE Ohio Chapter.
What do you say Tim?

Are you thinking NEDRA?  We were talking EAA.  Maybe we could do both.

I was thinking EAA.  I don't know if he is interested but he is a self
starting, get it done, kind of guy and has expressed interest in doing
more conversions.  He is also about to become a NEDRA racer with his
own street legal car.
