it's pretty easy, if you check out tomcat from svn

svn co http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/tomcat/tc6.0.x/trunk

the trunk folder contains a .project and .classpath

do a

cd trunk
ant download

then you will need to setup two variables

ANT_HOME
TOMCAT_LIBS_BASE - this one points to the location you downloaded your
dependencies to
