At some point (maybe in the install of the Gimp program) you must have
specified that Gimp is to be used if you double-click in Explorer on a
JPG file. Easiest way to fix that is to right-click on a JPG file and
select "Open With ...". If that entry isn't there I believe
shift+right-click will cause it to appear. It should show you the
programs that are currently installed that have registered as being able
to open JPG files. If the one you want (eg. Irfan View, MS Paint or
whatever you used to use before installing Gimp) is there click "Always
use this program to open this type of file" then select it. If not use
the [Browse ...] or [More ...] option to navigate to the desired program
and select it.

From now on JPG's will open with that program if double-clicked in
Explorer.
