RFS: libenglabDear mentors,
I am looking for a sponsor for my package "libenglab". * Package name : libenglab Version : 0.2.2-1 Upstream Author : BugFest Team <chserenis@...> * URL : http://englab.sf.net * License : GPLv2 Section : libs It builds these binary packages: libenglab - A cross compile mathematical platform with a C like syntax libenglab-dev - A cross compile mathematical platform with a C like syntax The package appears to be lintian clean. The upload would fix these bugs: 491710 The package can be found on mentors.debian.net: - URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libenglab - Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main contrib non-free - dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libenglab/libenglab_0.2.2-1.dsc EngLab is a cross-compile mathematical platform with a C like syntax intended to be used both by engineers and users with little programming knowledge. It supports programming through small script files but also enables users to easily compile their own functions as shared objects and use them through the program's main interface. This package contains header files and a static library needed for compiling EngLab user interfaces and toolboxes. Is EngLab a MATLAB clone? No, unlike other similar projects, e.g. Octave, EngLab is NOT intended to be a MATLAB clone. On the contrary, EngLab seeks to provide an alternative approach to the mathematical/calculation problems engineers and scientists face in their field of expertise. Using C-like syntax, multiple type variables and a continuously extensible set of toolboxes, EngLab lays out an easy-to-use and powerful environment for engineers and scientists with experience or not. EngLab is about creating a new fast and scalable mathematical platform that is closer to a programming language than other programs, but still retains features such as on-demand toolbox loading and data processing though a script programming language. EngLab current version is at alpha stage. That means that new features are constantly being added, but the reliability is still an issue to be addressed. EngLab is starting to draw attention from the open source community: An author's interview, program review and advanced tutorial is currently pending by Linux Format, Greece. During it's release in June it reached a rank of 98 (smaller is better) at sourceforge, the last recorded rank is 118. The program is rated 4 out of 5 stars at linux.softpedia.com http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Science-and-Engineering/Mathematics/Englab-console-37081.shtml Flattering comments exist such as: http://www.computerworlduk.com/COMMUNITY/BLOGS/index.cfm?entryid=1020&blogid=14 The project was started by a group of engineers in Greece. I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me. Kind regards Harry Serenis -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-REQUEST@... with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Also, please ensure the synopsis shows why one package is different from another; the above two synopses are identical. Better synopses for these packages might be: > libenglab - A cross compile mathematical platform with a C like syntax cross-compiling mathematical platform with C-like syntax - run-time library > libenglab-dev - A cross compile mathematical platform with a C like syntax cross-compiling mathematical platform with C-like syntax - development files There may be other improvements as well. The synopsis should fit sensibly into the hypothetical sentence template: <packagename> is {a,an,the} <synopsis> -- \ “I watched the Indy 500, and I was thinking that if they left | `\ earlier they wouldn't have to go so fast.” —Steven Wright | _o__) | Ben Finney -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-REQUEST@... with a subject of "unsubscribe". Harry Serenis <chserenis@...> disait : > I am looking for a sponsor for my package "libenglab". Hi Harry! I don't find your GPG key. Did you put it on some public key server? On clean, you should remove Makefile, config.guess, config.h and config.sub so that they are not included in diff.gz. In debian/rules, remove commented calls to dh_* programs. The Standards-Version that you use in debian/control is outdated. Upgrade to Standards-Version 3.8.0. You should also add an Homepage field (in the first section) and a debian/watch file. You should add some blank lines in long descriptions. At least between the common description and the "what is the purpose of this package". Your debian/copyright is incomplete/inaccurate. Looking at some random files, I find that most of them are copyrighted by yourself. In libenglab-dev.install, you say "debian/tmp/usr/lib/*". This will include the shared library as well. You should say "*.so" and "*.a" instead. "*.so.*" should be included in libenglab.install instead. libenglab package should be libenglab2 if the major version is 2. I am not able to compile your package: englab-update.cpp: In function 'int main(int, char**)': englab-update.cpp:70: error: 'getenv' was not declared in this scope -- I WILL NOT EAT THINGS FOR MONEY I WILL NOT EAT THINGS FOR MONEY I WILL NOT EAT THINGS FOR MONEY -+- Bart Simpson on chalkboard in episode 9F10 |
