thank's Pal,

I made the test, and the outcome is not good, as you can see below.
I use the version 4.3.1, May 2008 on Windows. I used the installation over
the net.
( Everything else works fine. I noticed one problem:
the Rivers came out as segments instead of being continuous in a northerly
area (lon 60-90,lat 50-75 )-
I replaced the coast folder with the old one I had from the previous GMT
version and the problem was solved.)

this the cpt file from the test:
# cpt file created by: grd2cpt junk.nc -Cgray -Z
#COLOR_MODEL = RGB
#
0 128 128 128 7.28167 128 128 128
7.28167 128 128 128 21.946 128 128 128
21.946 128 128 128 32.52 128 128 128
32.52 128 128 128 41.555 128 128 128
41.555 128 128 128 50 128 128 128
50 128 128 128 58.445 128 128 128
58.445 128 128 128 67.48 128 128 128
67.48 128 128 128 78.054 128 128 128
78.054 128 128 128 92.7183 128 128 128
92.7183 128 128 128 100 128 128 128
B 0 0 0
F 255 255 255
N 128 128 128

if I use color-code Haxby your test works fine, this the result:
# cpt file created by: grd2cpt junk.nc -Chaxby -Z
#COLOR_MODEL = RGB
#
0 10 0 121 7.28167 0 10 200
7.28167 0 10 200 21.946 26 102 240
21.946 26 102 240 32.52 50 190 255
32.52 50 190 255 41.555 106 235 225
41.555 106 235 225 50 172 245 168
50 205 255 162 58.445 247 215 104
58.445 247 215 104 67.48 244 117 75
67.48 244 117 75 78.054 255 124 124
78.054 255 124 124 92.7183 255 196 196
92.7183 255 196 196 100 255 255 255
B 0 0 0
F 255 255 255
N 128 128 128

so maybe something is missing?

thank's,
Elly
