Quota panic in 7.2.5

We've just moved to Ontap 7.2.5 to solve a panic problem with our
previous 7.2.2 release.
However we've immediately been hit with another panic which appears
related to quota initialisation.

The bug number/title says :-

300385 / Quota doesn't seems to be prealloc while handling multiuser
members

But we have less than 1000 entries in our user quota file for this
volume, although it is mixed mode and draws from a user population of
around 25,000 across AD and NIS.

Currently we are running without quotas; not good for an extended period
because we have downstream repercussions related to snapvault replicas
which are designed to be 'near limit'.

Just a warning for anyone with similar user numbers to be aware of.

Wonderful.  Does this only affect filers running mixed mode qtrees?
How does this affect NFS only shops?  And while I use quotas, I don't
put any limits on them, I just use them for reporting.

Thanks for the warning, esp since I just upgraded a pair of R200s to
7.2.5 and I'm planning on upgrading some FAS9xx boxes as well.
Sigh...

I searched Now.netapp.com for this bug number 300385.
Got zero results. Is there another number for this?

Thanks.

I have hit the same bug on my test filer for a volume with lots of user quotas for ntfs security style home directories. A quota off/on for a volume containing only unix style home directories did not trigger a panic.

This seems to be a new bug in 7.2.5, because it did not occur in the 7.2.4P7 release I tested earlier.

 Hello,

Please be aware that we are investigating a couple of issues
with quotas in Data ONTAP 7.2.5. As a precautionary measure, we have
removed Data ONTAP 7.2.5 from the NOW site as we investigate the issues.
We will provide an update as soon as more information is available.

Can you please post the bug numbers for the isuses being investigated,
esp for those of us running 7.2.5 on production machines?  Admittedly
they're just my R200s for SnapVault destinations, but I do have some
other data on them....

We need to revert from7.2.5 to 7.2.4, is that just simple as reinstall 7.2.4?

Hi Yanhui

Basically yes as the wafl file system is the same in both releases.
The exception would be if you used any new 7.2.5 feature.
If it were a FAS-2000 series, you'd revert to 7.2.4L1 instead.

Kindest regards
Kenneth
