Love Lore

Ye didna know how it pained me so,
Ye didna know how it felt without ye.
But I need ye to know,
I want ye till all the world’s asunder.

But when I play for my bonnie lad,
So’s he comes to me.
Nay clustered glens, nay hilltops high,
Will stop my bonnie lad from me.
The kilt. The heather. The plaidie. The feather.
All for the love of thee.

Skipping on the prairie he do.
Whistling to the highland tune.
Gaily flattering me he do.
For the love of a lassie, so sweet and true.
Is all he can do.

He fights for me honor
In a duel to the death.
Salvaging me virtue without tarry.
So in the end he becomes me hero.
And we set about to marry
