Prosch Shutter/lens combo.Hi Group,
I have just accidentally acquired a Half-Plate size Prosch Shutter/Lens
combination marked:
TRIPLEX
PAT NOV 1886
PROSCH M'F'G Co
MAKERS
NY
7.664.
I have previously seen a picture of one, but maybe
you have to be American to understand its workings? To my British eyes it looks,
well, complicated and exotic. Very pretty though. So, what have I got? Is it
rare, or valuable, or, preferably, rare and valuable? And are any instructions
available? 'Cos no way can I work it out................
TIA,
Regards,
Eric.

RE: Prosch Shutter/lens combo.Eric,
I used to collect Prosch
shutters . . . can you point out which version you have?
![]() Sorry . . . had the pic
from way back and couldn't resist.
The Prosch shutters
(except for a couple) are pretty easy to operate; you just have to keep track of
a couple of things.
I'll be happy to put
together a tutorial a little later today.
Regards,
mz

RE: Prosch Shutter - users guideEric,
This might help explain
the basics and operation:
![]() Prosch shutters used to be
rare before eBay, but now everybody has one. Still, very cool, and some of
the rarer ones are worth a fortune; the Eclipse, the Rapid, the Stereo
versions, and of course, the incredibly rare Tri-Triplex and later, more
powerful V-plex.

Re: Prosch Shutter - users guideMilan,
Thanks
for your trouble, I appreciate it. The instructions seem to work my shutter; it
gets better the more clicks I give it, I think it has probably not been used for
a year or two. What a pity it is not one of the three remaining Proschs
worldwide.................I like it, though. What sort of mind can come up with
something like that?
The other two are simply
terrifying; put them together and you have a sextuplex............
Best regards,
Eric.
