Inless you are looking for very button specific functionality, you can try using the imageHyperlink component. It allows you to set a disabled image if the link is disabled..

When you use a checkbox or a radiobutton as an input for a Dynamic Faces transaction, you always get the "checked" value regardless of the actual control status.
Anyone knows why?

I tried this with an "INDETERMINATE" progress bar, which worked fine for Firefox 3.
But on Internet Explorer 7 the progress bar didn't show any progress.

I have a suspicion that the error is not a Woodstock error, but an issue with caching. Please take a look at the article below

I am using a slightly different approach with a "BUSY" progress bar to
replace the buttons and it works really well.

I put all the buttons in its own panel grid next to the progress bar
which is hidden at first. in the onClick i put "return
myJavascriptFunction();" which always returns true.

Officially, Woodstock seems to be a part of Glassfish though, not NetBeans. That means from a corporate politics standpoint, the Glassfish team was probably paying for developers to work on a project that was mainly being used by the NetBeans team. With Woodstock not officially being owned by NetBeans, they may not have much control over it.

My random guess is there is no announcement on Woodstock's future because the NetBeans team is trying to figure out how they can take over support of it. Or maybe Sun just gets enjoyment out of torturing their users...?

I stayed with version 4.1, and although it is missing some bells and
whistles, so far so good as far as stability and compatibility.

At least I'll be able to check out that version and keep it for my own
purposes.

Nevertheless the lack of a straight answer is extremely worrying.

However I don't think it likely that Woodstock will be abandoned, since
it is at the core of the netbeans web platform.

You never know, I guess.

I don't think NetBeans would let having a visual solution for JSF. Many people use NetBeans because of it and it seems to have a lot of bug fixes at NetBeans 6.5. I guess the big mystery is about Woodstock.

I have always preferred Sun's standards and implementations. Hope they don't screw up.

Meanwhile I'm "dating" Eclipse's WTP + RichFaces.

could. Even if the project miraculously comes back to life, they've already
shown that at any moment it could die again leaving everyone stuck using an
unsupported set of components.

NetBeans VWP and Woodstock are great projects, but there are some things that bother me (I'm using NB 6.1, NB 6.5 beta is crashing):

- VWP:

Performance (seems to be improved in NB 6.5)
Navigator almost never works (seems to be fixed in NB 6.5)
No visual support for Facelets (don't know about NB 6.5)
Components like Masthead and ContentPageTitle are still not in the Palette
Dynamic fetch of binding attributes, so when the binding attribute is dynamically created I can't visually edit my page. Instead of that dumb abc on the component, it should only show what is inside the text attribute, like #{something}. I think it would even make VWP faster. (seems to be fixed in NB 6.5)

- Woodstock:

Lack of AJAX. Dynamic Faces just doesn't works with it.
Some components could be easier to use, for example its complicated to get Table's selected rows and to use a determinate progress bar.
I know this seems to be related to dojo, but what about Firefox 3 support?
Some bugs take a long time to be fixed
It could have more components, such as drag and drop, effects, modal panel and others

I think AJAX issues will solved with JSF 2.0, but until there...

About other issues, since there no news, I'm worried as well.

I'm seriously considerating switching to RichFaces. I'll wait JSF 2.0 to decide.

don't trust Woodstock future.

Please Sun, say something. If you have few available developers now for
woodstock, we can accept some months of delay in order to have a new version
in let's say 2 or 3 months. But like this... common... we don't know if the
project will survive!

I developed something with Woodstock and I am switching to ICEFaces, because I

Well, it seems it was a mistake during my code paste in the previous post --> the '#' is present in sourceData.

And I also have getter & setter for my MapDataProvider object.

Do you have some examples showing MapDataProvider implemented ?

Your sourceData declaration in your JSP should have had a '#' in front of the value (I think):

sourceData="#{viewjobs.mapDataProvider1}"

Also, make sure that the viewjobs bean has a method called getMapDataProvider1() which returns a MapDataProvider instance.

Hi Guillaume,

Your sourceData declaration in your JSP should have had a '#' in front
of the value (I think):

sourceData="#{viewjobs.mapDataProvider1}"

Also, make sure that the viewjobs bean has a method called
getMapDataProvider1() which returns a MapDataProvider instance.

MapDataProvider

Hi,

Sorry for the previously truncated message.

I'm using Woodstock JSF in order to display a simple table layout.

Basically, I have a Woodstock table, to which I link a MapDataProvider instance, with sourceVar / sourceData attributes.

I do the following stuff (this is a fragment of the real JSP page)

Hi all,

I have a navigation problem with the wizard component from the woodstock plugin.
My application is a Webapplication which uses Glassfish and Netbeans 6.0

Used Software:
NetBeans IDE 6.0 (Build 200711261600)
Java: 1.6.0_04; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 10.0-b19
Glassfish: V1 & V2 1.4.2.1.1
GlassFish V3 module: 0.3.19
Woodstock version: 4.3 Build 6

Problem:

My wizard is divided in five steps, in every step it is intended that the user does some
sort of configuration with comboboxes, textfields, radio button groups and common tasks.
Every step has validation checks and is performed once.

In the third step it is intended that the options of two combo boxes are changed, if the user combines special
possibilities. That means, I have to "perform" this step twice (the correct or false possibility is communicated to
the user per message bubble). In the best case the user has to configure everything once to proceed, in the worst case the user
has to change the parameters two times.

When I do the configuration once and click the next button everything works fine, but when I do the configuration twice
and click the next button the wizard jumps back to the first step!!

I looked after my Wizard Eventlisteners and other code but there is no code which leads the wizard back to the first step.
I also tried activating / deactivating the Evenlisteneers and programming Stepeventlisteners for every step, but nothing seems to work.

I found a wizard example under

and some sort of "guide" under

http://developers.sun.com/docs/web-app-guidelines/uispec4_0/13-wizards.html

but this two pages are not very helpful.

Any idea?

on onClick event put something like $("form1:mytextfield").refresh()
this works if text property of the textfield is bound to something that changes consistently

When i clicked butonlisting button program executes and the table fills by data from database and also I have one more column(static text in it) in my table than database has columns. User enters data in that extra column(static text).

When I clicked saveButton i want to have all of data in this table. and than i am going to use some where else.

What should be the code in butonSave_action to do this?

According to the roadmap Woodstock 4.3 final release was due the end of july.
It is supposed to provide important bug fixes but I will not rely on the current build 7 to use it in production environment.

Please give some information about the new release dates and the future plans.
