The NetBeans open source project is proud to announce that a new patch
for NetBeans IDE 6.1 is now available on the Update Center. The patch
includes fixes in modules for BPEL, C/C++, Database, Editing Files, GUI
Builder, IDE Platform, Java, Java Debugger, Java EE, Java Persistence,
JBoss Application Server, Mercurial, Mobility, NetBeans Plugin
Development, RESTful Web Services, Ruby and Rails, SOA, Spring Web MVC,
UML, Visual JSF, Visual Mobility Designer, Web Applications, Web
Services, and XML and Schema.

For more information, see

http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/NetBeans6.1PatchesInfo

The update is easy to install when the NetBeans IDE is running. Just
click on the globe in the status bar or go to Tools -> Plugins ->
Updates tab, then follow the installation instructions.

Good stuff, Mary. Thanks for making it even easier than Eclipse's nice update features. It's certainly less confusing to run. Maybe I'm giving something up, but for now I haven't found it.

I don’t see this patch. I don’t have a globe at the lower right corner and if I am going to search for updates it tells me that my IDE is up to date.

Last time I updated it 2-3 days ago and only one update (new colors for Ruby) was installed).

I have 5 update centers configured including primary Netbeans, Beta, development, etc.

So, where is the patch?

Thx,

                Gary

Your NetBeans checks for updates after some amount of time. Maybe default
setting is set (every week).

You can change this settings here:
Tools > Plugins > Settings > Check Interval

Change to e.g. "Every startup" and restart NetBeans. That should help ;).

Marek

the "reload catalog" button in update centre also make you NB check for
updates.

Hope this helps.

Does "Help/Check For updates" not work too?

Maybe you don't have access to update server?
I don't know. Maybe check firewall rules.

Try to open page:
   http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/6.1/uc/final/stable/

Or maybe you have installed that updates, but don't see it? :)
Check in Tools/Plugins/Installed: Java -> Version (I have 1.1.1)

Marek

No, "Help/Check For updates" says that my IDE is up to date,
I do have access to the update server. Otherwise it would complain and I can easily open the page you are referring to.
I did check Tools/Plugins/Installed: Java -> Version and I have 1.2, although I do not know what it signifies.
I do keep an eye for updates and I doubt very much that I could have missed such important one.
However, My Help->About tells me:

Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.1 (Build 200804211638)
Java: 1.6.0_05; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 10.0-b19
System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1252; en_US (nb)
Userdir: C:\Documents and Settings\gary.greenberg\.netbeans\6.1

If the patch was installed it should tell me something like "IDE 6.1Patch1", isn't it?

I have installed that patch, but text Help/About is similar to your:

--- \begin ---
Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.1 (Build 200804211638)
Java: 1.6.0; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.6.0-b105
System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1250; pl_PL (nb)
Userdir: C:\Documents and Settings\faramir\.netbeans\6.1
--- \end ---

In tools/plugins/installed: Java I have that description:
--- \begin ---
Version: 1.1.1 Source: NetBeans
Plugin Description
For the list of included fixed bugs please check
http://wiki.netbeans.org/NetBeans6.1PatchesInfo.

Provides the general infrastructure for handling Java code in the IDE.
Includes features such as syntax highlighting, error marking, code
completion, code templates, refactoring, and other coding productivity
features.
--- \end ---

The "IDE Platform":
--- \begin ---
Version: 1.3.1 Source: NetBeans
Plugin Description
For the list of included fixed bugs please check
http://wiki.netbeans.org/NetBeans6.1PatchesInfo.

The IDE Platform consists of the modules in the Base IDE that do not
naturally belong to any of its visible plugins.....
--- \end ---

I think that this place says better about installed version of NetBeans
and patches :).

I don't know how to help you now :(.

regards,
Marek

In my Plugins->Installed I have:

(Java)

Version: 1.2 Source: Development Center

Plugin Description

Provides the general infrastructure for handling Java code in the IDE. Includes features such as syntax highlighting, error marking, code completion, code templates, refactoring, and other coding productivity features.

---

(IDE Platform)

Version: 1.4 Source: Development Center

Plugin Description

The IDE Platform consists of the modules in the Base IDE that do not naturally belong to any of its visible plugins, but are installed together with the plugins that require them. The modules (NBMs) in IDE Platform are: Directory Chooser, External HTML Browser, External Libraries, General Online Help, General Options Dialog Panels, Generic Languages Framework, HTTP Server, IDE Defaults, Project UI, Refactoring API, Tag Based Editors Library, Timers API, and User Utilities.

---

How come that my version number is higher, although the patch was not installed?Hmm

I have installed that patch, but text Help/About is similar to your:

--- \begin ---

Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.1 (Build 200804211638)

Java: 1.6.0; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.6.0-b105

System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1250; pl_PL (nb)

Userdir: C:\Documents and Settings\faramir\.netbeans\6.1

--- \end ---

In tools/plugins/installed: Java I have that description:

--- \begin ---

Version: 1.1.1 Source: NetBeans

Plugin Description

For the list of included fixed bugs please check

http://wiki.netbeans.org/NetBeans6.1PatchesInfo.

Provides the general infrastructure for handling Java code in the IDE.

Includes features such as syntax highlighting, error marking, code

completion, code templates, refactoring, and other coding productivity

features.

--- \end ---

The "IDE Platform":

--- \begin ---

Version: 1.3.1 Source: NetBeans

Plugin Description

For the list of included fixed bugs please check

http://wiki.netbeans.org/NetBeans6.1PatchesInfo.

The IDE Platform consists of the modules in the Base IDE that do not

naturally belong to any of its visible plugins.....

--- \end ---

I think that this place says better about installed version of NetBeans

and patches :).

I don't know how to help you now :(.

Marek
