Other Favourite Companions?

What companions do you love apart from SJ?
I have so many that it gets silly, I really do love most of them, but Liz Shaw, Leela, Romana, Nyssa, Tegan, and Ace stand out particularly. Oh, and of course Harry, the Brigadier and Benton, and Mike Yates.
I'm watching a lot of Liz at the moment, and it really is a shame that she wasn't in more stories, she's really cool, and sweet! I think they could have done a lot with her.

I liked Liz and it is a shame she wasn't in it more.

Favourites after SJS: Harry, [Brigadier, Benton], Romanas, Leela, Martha, Captain Jack, Ian & Barbara.

UNIT (they are just one whole character, I swear, but I have a particular soft spot for Harry. Also: The Brig and Benton are awesome.), Romana II and what limited episodes I've seen, Ace seems awesome.

I've got to agree with those of you who've mentioned what a good character Liz was.  I liked her a lot too.  Have you all seen the extras and heard the commentary on the _Inferno_ DVD?  It's great!

Very Cool about Polly's book. I can't believe I missed K-9. He's my favourite after SJ.

Jamie!   Oh my, do I feel the Jamie love and not merely because of the kilt ^_~   What a mouth that boy had!  When it comes to spunk, he stands right and tall beside Our Lady of Perpetual Awesomeness.

Evil Bad Dude: "I have chosen to spare this man's life..."
Jamie: "You mean you missed!"

... really, how can you not love that?? ^__^

I liked the second Romana, and I liked Nyssa a lot.   After Nyssa left, I really did not feel any companion love until Ace came along.   I liked Rose until she went all Mary-Sue, and of course, love Captain Jack (though I think he works better as a companion than as Torchwood's Deus Ex Machina.)

Yes! I was watching some Two for the first time ever the other day (yes, yes, awful, I know). And Jamie is so cute! He and Two are all over each other. I loved it :D

I do think that, although the Doctor likes all of his companions, there are some that he really, really loves. Sarah is one of them, and I think Jamie is another. Also Evelyn, to whom I've only recently been introduced - but seriously, how cool?!

Llin, thanks for the character profile of Harry!  I have been trying to learn more about him lately.  You mentioned that several original novels give info on him.  I have heard of (but not yet read) _Harry Sullivan's War_.  What other books tell about him?

You're welcome! To be honest I haven't yet read any of the books with Harry in, I got those bits of information from the Wikipedia entry and various other places, so there should be a list there of which books he's been in.

Well aside from SJ, quite a lot really.
I like Harry cause he's adorable ( btw I love the Knight in SHining Armour vid), and I like Romana II, Peri, Tegan, Nyssa, Leela, Susan, Ian and Barbara. Oh, and the UNIT family because you have to love them.
So quite a lot

Harry's been in a few books, some of which are part of the Short Trips range published by Big Finish, I've only read two of them personally. Big Finish used to have 'UNIT Christmas Parties: Ships that Pass' which has Harry in, which you could readon the website, but they seem to have taken it down D:

Anyway, there's also 'Damaged Goods' written by Russell T Davies himself, in which Harry has a cameo.  There's other books, and as Llin said, there's a list on Wikipedia. Though some books are harder to get than others. I've seen Harry Sullivan's War sell for around £20. It depends how much of a Harry fan you are...

Thanx for Harry info

Revolutionaren and Llin, thanks for the info on Harry books.  Wow--I don't think it will be very easy for me to get my hands on these books.  The reason that I'm so interested in Harry lately is that I'm writing a fan-fic story in which Harry makes a brief (and mysterious) appearance.  I think that what I'm writing will fit in fine with the character's history (as it's detailed on Wikipedia), so I can still go forth with my story as planned.

You're welcome, ooh, this fic sounds exciting!
Maybe we should have a thread for linking to fics?

I'd love to read other people's fanfic, provided that it's not rated X.  (I've been unpleasantly surprised by some of the fanfic that's out there.)

As for the story I'm working on, it won't be done for quite some time.  But I'm glad that it sounds exciting to you.  :)
