Oracle Connection Problems

I’m attempting to connect to an Oracle 10g database, but I always get a “network adapter could not establish connection” error.  I can connect to the database using DbVisualizer using the same connection string and driver (Oracle Thin from ojdbc14.jar).

My connection string:  jdbc:oracle:thin:@ftw-srv-rxdv-04:1525:eps2dev

Has anyone else experienced problems similar to this one?

Thanks,

Casey

Have you tried substituting the hostname with the ip address?
perhaps the '-' in the hostname is the problem
