Chaps,

What do fellow Thinstationers use for load balancing of rdesktop in Thinstation?

We tried NLB and session directory in Windows Server 2003 once upon a time, but it was a disaster.

Round robin DNS? Primitive, but simple.

Hi Kevin,

We run Windows 2K3 NLB over 4 servers.
All connected into a gigabit switch on the front end and connected into a hub for the heart beat (so they can all talk to each other on the private network).

Approx 100 clients connected to this and being distributed evenly across all servers.

Runs without a hitch.
There is an eventual plan to load balance the cisco switches themselves that the servers are connected to, but not been put into live yet.

John.

We use NLB with session directory. Works great now but it did take some
tweaking to get it just right.

Hi Kevin,
As Mike mentioned, we just use round robin through DNS. Our three TS's get
almost identical numbers of users. The only minor issue is when a server
goes down or is taken offline for maintenance meaning you have to take it
out of DNS. Otherwise simple to set up and free as opposed to switches etc.
