OS X 10.5 Keyboard Stops Working

Has anyone out there seen the problem where on a Mac OS X 10.5 machine
your keyboard suddenly / randomly will stop working in an application?  
We have customers reporting this, and I know it is not specifically a 4D
issue as I have had it happen in other applications, so I am wondering
if anyone else has seen it, knows anything about it.. how to fix
it...?   I am guessing it is an Apple issue?
I find that if I click on the desktop, then click back on the screen I
am trying to type in to I can type again.
