Hi All,

Has anyone taken a look at desktopzoom? It is a freeware desktop magnifier that will magnify the mouse, zoom a fixed window or zoom the entire desktop.

I am disabled and to my knowledge, this is the only free program that will magnify the entire destop.

hmm, well it lets you track the user focus and UI state for those
programs that play ball and expose themselves (hehe).
You still need to magnify the screen unless you provide another
non-literal representation which might work (hmm again).

As Mick and James have no sight at all they felt unable to manage such
a project and NVDA doesn't use a screen buffer so they didn't really
think they could help much

Vista/UI Automation should make it trivial... He could have been, er,
constructively truthful though....

resulted in ongoing debate about the accessibility of Microformats,
hopefully it will lead to an accessible solution
What are the accessibility concerns with microformats? the BBC's
Jonathan Hassel explains
Christian Heilmann developed EasyYouTube, a YouTube player for people
with learning disabilities as a direct response to Antonia Hyde's
presentation on Rich Media for people with learning disabilities
Christian gets fantastic feedback - EasyYouTube also works with screen
readers and schoolkids use it to access YouTube
Following on from this success Chris developed EasySlideShare and EasyFlickr
Christian has taken the idea further by organising Scripting Enabled -
an accessibility hack day

- With a lot of code refactoring, MouseTrap can reduce its CPU usage

other A11Y applications， but Will said it was too sensitive.

Although Firefox works to integrate with system themes, there are
sometimes issues. Occasionally, UI elements may not me readable when a
reverse color theme is used.

Here's an example: if a foreground or text color of black is hardcoded
into a theme, and the background color adapts to a white on black, the
element will end up as black on black.

Mozilla needs someone to go through these bugs and prioritize them. It
would of course be great to get fixes as well, but the bottom line is if
prioritization is done we can push for fixes from the front end team.

Are there any volunteers willing to go through the bugs and help with
triage?

Hi Tom, thanks for that and I've passed you comments on to the GNOME
(Linux desktop) developers working in this area so they know there are
users just waiting for a low cost usable solution.

The action is picking up in this area, with MouseTrap being worked on
for Head Tracking with webcams and ultimately eyegaze. A headpointer
user is working hard to ensure alternative pointer devices are fully
supported (e.g dwell click). GOK, the on screen keyboard now has
another maintainer so we can hope to see inprovements there too. In
addition the login system is being reworked to include accessibility
with alternative input as well as screen readers.

With your background as a electronics engineer, designer of solutions
and as a user it would be great to have your input and it's a great
chance to help create the solutions *you* want. You might like to join
the GNOME accessibility lists (low traffic and a friendly bunch). See

I would just like to add some support for individuals in similar situations
to Jacqui, like myself, who would benefit greatly from software solutions
like what mytobii offers. Unfortunately this specific solution has a niche
market and very little competition at present and as a result is very
expensive. I have been forced to use substandard solutions such as a
combination of voice recognition software, head point hardware and custom
switch-based shoulder controlled hardware which I have helped develop.
Instead of eyegaze and blink controls, which are either inaccessible due to
cost or underdeveloped. I am a C4 complete tetraplegic electronic engineer
and have no use of my limbs below my shoulders.
