Newbie question: watching job log files

Hi Folks,

Does Hudson allow me to designate a file as a real-time artifact?  

By "real-time artifact" I basically mean a log file that is interesting
both in its final content (an artifact) and in how quickly or slowly the
output is being generated.

In essence, I'm wondering if there is an existing feature that will provide
a clickable icon like "Console Output" for arbitrary files.

Ah, interesting. A plugin should be able to do this easily. It would be
a BuildWrapper that adds an Action at the beginning of a build and
removes it at the end of it (MavenProbeAction is used in a very similar
way, so you can see the idea of this.)

So my canonical question goes --- would you be interested in writing
such a plugin? We'd be happy to help you.

Hi Kohsuke,

At the moment I'm quite limited in the time I have for this.  I'm new to
Hudson and not sure about all the features available.  So my initial plan
is to try to get something working that meets my most fundamental needs
first and later see if the basic automation frees enough of my time to be
able to do more than read this mailing list once a week.

In the meantime, I'll keep tossing out ideas in hopes that someone can
point me to a way to do it that already exists, or that the idea will catch
someone's fancy and they'll do the work.  :-)
